A production method of a long member including a large number of carbon nanotubes includes the steps of: (1) drawing the carbon nanotubes gradually from a first array to obtain a first web 10a; (2) bringing the first web 10a partially into contact with a first holder 12a to hold the first web 10a on the first holder 12a; (3) drawing the carbon nanotubes gradually from a second array to obtain a second web 10b; (4) bringing the second web 10b partially into contact with a second holder 12b to hold the second web 10b on the second holder 12b; and (5) placing a portion of the first web 10a and a portion of the second web 10b on each other to form a joint, the portions of the first and second webs 10a and 10b being in the vicinity of the first and second holders 12a and 12b, respectively, and being placed on each other such that width directions of the first and second webs 10a and 10b are substantially the same.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR BINDING FABRICS

A device for connecting two or more pieces of fabric. The devices is formed as a bonding strip having a base and a plurality of spikes extending from the base. The bonding strip is formed of a material having a forming temperature that is lower than that of the fabric to be bonded. To bond the two or more pieces of fabric, the spikes are pushed through the fabric. The spikes are then formed at a temperature that is at least as high as the forming temperature of the bonding strip but lower than the forming temperature of the fabric. The forming can be performed so that the spikes bend over and press against the fabric. The spikes can be arranged on first and second rows along the bonding strip, and the forming can be performed such that spikes from the first strip connect with spikes of the second strip.

SHEAR BAND CONSTRUCTION

A shear band for a tire includes an annular first, radially outer fabric layer extending circumferentially around the tire; and an annular second, radially inner fabric layer extending circumferentially around the tire. The shear band is formed from a single shear band strip helically wound circumferentially and axially with a first edge of the shear band strip. The first edge of the shear band strip has a first extension flap for engaging an opposite second edge of the shear band strip. The first extension flap is continuously secured to the opposite second edge linearly along the opposite second edge of the shear band strip.

Fabric and method for producing same

A fabric, in particular a press felt, is provided for use in a press section of a machine for producing a fiber web such as a paper, cardboard, or tissue web. The fabric is formed of multiple strips which are arranged adjacent one another and extend substantially parallel to one another in a machine direction. The strips together form a width of the fabric in the machine transverse direction. Each strip is designed as a double-layered sheet material. Strips arranged adjacently in respective pairs are connected by way of a connecting strip. A part of the width of each of the connecting strips extends in the machine transverse direction into the two adjacent strips. The strips are connected to the connecting strips.

The present invention provides a method of manufacturing a pipe liner for lining the inside of a pipe, for example a water or sewerage pipe requiring repair. The pipe liner is mainly formed of a fabric sleeve, or a plurality of fabric sleeves, and comprises a fluid-proof barrier coating on the inside surface of the pipe liner. The method involves arranging a strip of carrier material comprising a liquid sealant inside the fabric sleeve of the pipe liner and in registration with two opposing side edges of the sheet of fabric, facing an inner barrier coating of the fabric sleeve. The method can advantageously provide such a pipe liner with an inner barrier coating without everting the pipe liner after manufacture. The present invention may also provide a way of avoiding internal cross-welding of said pipe liners and a method for testing the integrity of the barrier coating of said pipe liners. The present invention also provides an apparatus for carrying out these methods.
