Method and device for treating biomass
The invention relates to a method for treating biomass (2). Biomass (2) is fed to a pressurized prehydrolysis reactor unit (8) by means of a feeding system (5, 7), wherein by means of the feeding system (5, 7) the biomass (2) is compressed. A filtrate is squeezed out of the biomass (2) by means of the feeding system (5, 7), in particular by a first plug screw (5) or a second plug screw (7) of the feeding system (5, 7). The biomass (2) is then thermally treated in the pressurized prehydrolysis reactor unit (8), discharged from the pressurized prehydrolysis reactor unit (8) afterwards, diluted with the filtrate before or after the discharge, and treated with an enzyme subsequently.
ARRANGEMENT AND METHOD FOR PRETREATMENT OF BIOMASS
The present disclosure generally relates to a pretreatment arrangement (100) for pretreatment of lignocellulosic biomass comprising a reactor vessel (101) having an upstream inlet (102) for receiving biomass and a downstream outlet (103) for discharging biomass. The pretreatment arrangement (100) further comprises a gas valve (104) and gas flow control means (106).
High consistency re-pulping method, apparatus and absorbent products incorporating recycled fiber
A method of pulping wastepaper includes providing a pulping vessel with a rotor and at least one flow sensor adapted to measure slurry flow within the pulping vessel. The pulping vessel is charged with wastepaper and water to form a slurry, the amounts of wastepaper and water being present such that the slurry has consistency in the range of from 10% to 30%. The wastepaper charge in the pulping vessel is pulped at a pre-selected power level while monitoring poloidal slurry flow in the pulping vessel; and from time-to-time, water may be added to the pulping vessel when the poloidal flow falls below a predetermined lower threshold flow value in order to reduce viscosity and thereby restore poloidal flow within the pulping vessel. Doppler velocimetry is a preferred method of monitoring pulp flow. In a particularly preferred construction the rotor has a variable power drive. The inventive method is especially useful for making high quality, high brightness furnishes from wastepaper which varies from batch to batch.

Method for cooling and detoxifying biomass
The present invention relates to an improved method and device for treating biomass in which thermally treated biomass is discharged from a pressurized reactor and introduced into a blow tank, wherein the absolute pressure in the blow tank is maintained below atmospheric pressure. The slurry of biomass separated in the blow tank is then enzymatically treated.
ADJUSTING A HIGH PRESSURE FEEDER BASED ON FLUID LEAKAGE
Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, that adjust a high-pressure feeder of a feed system used in pulp production based on the fluid leakage through a low-pressure outlet of a high-pressure feeder. Methods can include obtaining multiple flow values, including (1) a make-up liquor flow value, (2) a black liquor flow value, (3) a white liquor flow value, (4) a chip chute circulation flow value, and (5) a high pressure feeder purge flow value. Methods can include determining a chip flow value specifying a flow of chips provided to the high-pressure feeder. Based on the flow values, methods can determine a fluid leakage value specifying an amount of fluid leakage through a gap between a pocket rotor and the housing of the high pressure feeder. Methods can adjust an annular gap based on the fluid leakage value satisfies a threshold leakage value.
