COOLING FOR GEOTHERMAL WELL DRILLING
A method for drilling a geothermal well in a subterranean zone includes drilling, with a drill string, a wellbore of the geothermal well in the subterranean zone. An inherent temperature of the rock adjacent a rock face at a downhole end of the wellbore is at least 250° C. While drilling, a drilling fluid is flowed at a temperature at the rock face such that a difference between the inherent temperature of the rock adjacent the rock face and the temperature of the drilling fluid at the rock face is at least 100° C.
A METHOD FOR MATRIX-ACID STIMULATION DESIGN IN LIMITED ENTRY LINERS
A method for stimulation of a well in a material formation which includes a workflow for the design of hole-size distribution in the liner of a LEL liner system is modelled, wherein a solution strategy for providing an initial estimate of the number of holes per segment honours the acid coverage per segment and the drop in pressure (dp) across the last one of the holes, where the initial estimate can be found from the relationship between interstitial velocity, pump rate, and total cross-sectional hole area for a particular discharge coefficient and liner configuration.
Method and apparatus for protection of control lines and other equipment
A protective member at least partially surrounds a desired length of pipe (such as a conventional landing string) and protects “umbilical” control line(s) or bundles, including pipe and umbilical line(s) installed within risers of subsea installations. At least one robust protective shell member is installed around at least a portion of a pipe string and forms at least one elongated channel. At least one umbilical control line is disposed within the elongated channel and is shielded against damage from inadvertent or unwanted abrasion, impact or other forces.
ADVANCED DRILL STRING INGROUND ISOLATOR HOUSING IN AN MWD SYSTEM AND ASSOCIATED METHOD
A housing defines a through passage along its length and is configured to support a group of electrical isolators surrounding the through passage to form an electrically isolating break in a drill string such that each isolator of the group of isolators is subject to no more than a compressive force responsive to extension and retraction of the drill string. The housing defines a housing cavity to receive an electronics package having a signal port and is configured for electrical connection of the signal port across the electrically isolating break. A housing lid can cooperate with a main housing body to define elongated slots for purposes of enhancing the emanation of a locating signal. A housing arrangement can support electrical connections from an electronics package to bridge an electrically isolating gap.
Apparatus for verifying the inner diameter of tubulars forming a tubular string
A floating drift apparatus for verifying the inner diameter of tubulars as the tubulars are made up into a tubular string being run into a wellbore. A float section provides buoyancy to float the apparatus in fluid within the bore of a tubular, and a drift section has a drift element with a diameter substantially equal to the tubular inner diameter being verified, which may be the drift diameter. When running a tubular string, the apparatus is inserted into the bore of the tubular string, floating in the fluid. As joints of tubular are made up and run into the wellbore, the tubulars move downhole around the apparatus. Preferably, the floating drift apparatus can be visually detected. If an undersize ID is encountered, the floating drift apparatus will be pushed downhole and no longer visible; the operator can remove the undersize ID tubular from the string.
Agitator for use with a drill string
An agitator for vibrating a drill string includes an agitator housing, a rotor and an agitation mass. The drill string has a central axis. The rotor is coupled to the agitator housing and being rotatable about an agitator axis. The agitation mass is coupled to the rotor and is rotatable about the agitator axis. During rotation, a center of mass of the agitation mass is spaced apart from the agitator axis to cause deflection of the agitator axis relative to the central axis to produce vibration in the drill string.
Polished rod rotation sensor
A sensor apparatus is provided for transmitting data of a polished rod in a rod pumping system, the rod pumping system including a rod rotator that rotates the polished rod. The sensor apparatus includes an outer shell configured to receive the polished rod, a signal processor within the outer shell, a position sensor within the outer shell and configured to sense and output to the signal processor a position signal, and a magnetic pickup sensor configured to sense and output to the signal processor a signal indicating a sensed magnetic field. The signal processor is configured to count a number of strokes of the polished rod based on the position signal, and to determine whether a fault exists based on the number of strokes and the signal indicating the sensed magnetic field.

WET CONNECT POCKET WASHOUT, METHOD, AND SYSTEM
A wet connect system including a connector housing, a wet connector disposed in a pocket of the housing, a washout window in the pocket and a washout outlet in the pocket, the washout outlet fluidly connected to a washout pathway, the pathway at least partially within the housing.
DOWNHOLE ELECTRICAL POWER SUPPLY SYSTEM
A downhole power supply and method for supplying downhole power are disclosed. In some embodiments a downhole power supply includes a source power supply including a supply cable coupled to an electric energy source. The downhole power supply further includes at least one downhole distribution network to which the supply cable is configured to couple the electric energy source. The at least one downhole distribution network includes, multiple load supplies providing regulated power levels to multiple downhole loads and a network controller configured to individually connect and disconnect each of the load supplies in response to a failure within the downhole distribution network.
