INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE WITH INJECTION DEVICE ARRANGED IN THE CYLINDER BARREL, AND METHOD FOR OPERATING AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE OF SAID TYPE
Examples are directed to a fuel injection device positioned in a cylinder liner. In one example, a cylinder includes a combustion chamber which is jointly formed by a piston crown of a piston, by a cylinder barrel which laterally delimits the combustion chamber, and by a cylinder head. The cylinder includes an injection device positioned in the cylinder barrel for direct introduction of fuel into the combustion chamber, which injection device has at least one opening which, during a course of an injection process, is configured to be activated to introduce fuel into the combustion chamber, the injection device terminating flush, at a combustion chamber side, with the cylinder barrel.
HYDROGEN-POWERED OPPOSED-PISTON ENGINE
A two-stroke cycle uniflow-scavenged opposed-piston engine is configured to use hydrogen fuel. The opposed-piston engine has at least one cylinder and a pair of pistons disposed for opposed motion in a bore of the cylinder. Hydrogen fuel is injected into the cylinder early in a compression stroke of the opposed-piston engine, and is ignited in a combustion chamber formed between the pistons late in the compression stroke.

Control system of internal combustion engine (as amended)
A control system of an internal combustion engine which performs diffusion combustion by compression autoignition on fuel injected in a main injection in at least a partial operating range and which performs stratified combustion by spark ignition using a spark plug on fuel injected prior to the main injection. The control system determines whether or not the diffusion combustion occurs and performs combustion by spark ignition using the spark plug on the fuel injected in the main injection when it is determined that the diffusion combustion does not occur.

FORCED FREQUENCY IGNITION SYSTEM FOR AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
An ignition system for an internal combustion engine has a power source, a transformer having first and second primary windings and a secondary winding, a connector extending from the secondary winding and adapted so as to connect with a terminal of the spark plug of the internal combustion engine, and electronic spark timing circuit cooperative with the transformer so as to activate and deactivate voltage to the first and second primary windings. The first and second primary windings are connected to the power source such that the transformer produces an alternating voltage output from the secondary winding of between 1 kHz and 100 kHz and a voltage of at least 20 kV. A forced push-pull inverter is cooperative with the electronic spark timing circuit so as to fix a frequency of voltage to the first and second primary windings.
