CONTROL DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A control device for an internal combustion engine is programmed, during a catalyst warm-up control, to perform first fuel injection by an injector in an intake stroke, control an ignition device so as to generate a discharge spark in a predetermined period in an expansion stroke, and perform second fuel injection, at a timing retarded from a compression top dead center, such that its injection period overlaps with at least a part of the predetermined period and an end timing of the injection period is advanced from an end timing of the predetermined period. Further, the control device is programmed, during the catalyst warm-up control, to control an actual tumble ratio depending on a result of determination using a first index value representing a speed of initial combustion accompanying an ignition by the ignition device and a second index value representing a speed of main combustion accompanying the ignition.

Method of operating an internal combustion engine
Methods and systems are provided for an engine. In one example, a method comprises stopping an engine via a soft-stop method in response to a likelihood of condensate forming being less than or equal to a threshold likelihood. The method further comprises stopping the engine via an exhaust gas evacuation method in response to the likelihood of condensate forming being greater than the threshold likelihood.
REIGNITION PROCESSING DEVICE, REIGNITION METHOD, AND PROGRAM FOR GAS ENGINE
A reignition processing device for a gas engine for executing a reignition process of a cylinder during operation of a gas engine having multiple cylinders is provided with: an execution permission unit configured to, when at least one of the cylinders misfires, perform permission determination whether to execute the reignition process of the misfiring cylinder, on the basis of a damage diagnosis result based on an in-cylinder pressure of the misfiring cylinder, presence or absence of abnormality in a control device which performs combustion control and combustion diagnosis of the gas engine, an operational history related to the misfiring cylinder, and an operational state of the gas engine; and a reignition execution unit configured to execute the reignition process of the misfiring cylinder that is permitted by the permission determination to execute the reignition process.
Low soot stoichiometric compression-ignition combustion
A combustion system including a combustion mechanism that injects oxygenated fuel into a combustion chamber. The oxygenated fuel mixes with the intake air in the combustion chamber where the air-fuel ratio in a portion of the combustion chamber is stoichiometric. The combustion mechanism includes an ignition mechanism that ignites the air-fuel mixture that generates a threshold number of particulates during combustion of the air-fuel mixture. The combustion system further includes an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) device that recirculates a portion of the exhaust gases back into the combustion chamber. The EGR device recirculates the portion of the exhaust to lower combustion temperature resulting in reduced amount of nitrogen oxide in the exhaust. The combustion system further includes a three-way catalytic converter in line with the exhaust channel to convert a second portion of the exhaust gases, leading to lower pollutant emissions than conventional combustion systems.
CONTROL APPARATUS
A control value calculation part includes an in-cylinder state estimation part that estimates a state to which the cylinder belongs between a plurality of PM-PN generation states. The plurality of PM-PN generation states are states in which a particulate matter is easily generated as compared with the other state, and are different from each other in a cause to generate the particulate matter. Further, in a case where it is determined that an operation state of an engine is a PM-PN exhaust state, the control value calculation part calculates a control value of an actuator in such a way to eliminate the PM-PN generation state according to the PM-PN generation state to which the state in the cylinder belongs.
