FUEL INJECTION DEVICE
A fuel injection device injecting a fuel from an injection hole to a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine includes a valve body including a fuel passage through which the fuel flows to the injection hole and a seat portion facing the fuel passage, a valve member moving in the valve body in an axial direction of the valve body and opening and closing the injection hole by being removed from and seated on the seat portion, a dividing member defining a pressure control chamber placed at a position opposite to the injection hole with respect to the valve member, and an outer peripheral member surrounding an exterior of an outer periphery of the dividing member. The pressure control chamber controls a movement of the valve member by a pressure of the fuel that is introduced. The outer peripheral member and the valve body constitute the fuel passage.

Fuel injector having residually stressed solenoid housing for improved pressure capapility
A fuel injector includes an injector body, and a stack within the injector body, and having a nozzle supply passage therein. The stack includes a solenoid assembly having a solenoid housing piece with a fuel bore formed therein that includes a segment of the nozzle supply passage. The solenoid housing piece includes a solenoid housing material in a base state, and a solenoid housing material in a residual compressive stressed state, with the fuel bore being formed by the solenoid housing material in the residual compressive stressed state. Residual stresses may be imparted by ballizing, nitriding, carburizing, autofrettage, or still another technique.
Method for achieving final air gap and parallelism of a fuel injector control valve
A method is provided for achieving final air gap and parallelism of a control valve of a fuel injector, the control valve having a body defining an transverse top face and including a thick disc magnetic armature having a planar transverse upper face. The method includes a) measuring the actual position from the armature upper face and the body top face and, determining the actual parallelism error between said faces; and b) ablating the armature to generate an ablated upper face parallel to the body top face, the distance from the ablated upper face to the body top face being a final air gap.
Control device for internal combustion engine having pressure increasing device
A control device for an internal combustion engine includes a fuel injector configured to inject fuel, a pressure increasing device that is provided upstream of the feel injector and is configured to increase the pressure of fuel supplied to the fuel injector, and an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to calculate an actual fuel injection amount based on a difference between a fuel pressure in the fuel injector in a case where the pressure increasing device increases the fuel pressure without fuel injection by the fuel injector and a fuel pressure in the fuel injector in a case where the fuel injector performs fuel injection according to the driving of the pressure increasing device.

Electronic control unit
A fuel injection device includes a first driver for driving a first valve and a second driver for driving a second valve. A control device performs an open control of the first valve multiple times by using the first driver, for enabling multistage fuel injection from an injection hole in one fuel cycle of an internal combustion engine via a high pressure fuel passage. The control device performs an open-close control of the second valve by using the second driver during an open control of the first valve by using the first driver, for controlling an inclination of injection rate of the fuel injection. The control device stops an output of a drive signal to the second driver when detecting an overheat of a drive circuit based on a temperature detection result of a temperature sensor.
