The shaft Includes a first end that is connectable to an aircraft engine and a second end that is opposite the first end. The rotating machine also includes a rotor attached to the shaft, the rotor being movable with respect to the stator and a power module including at least one MOSFET that periodically reverses an electrical current direction of the rotor. Methods and systems for engine cranking
Methods and systems are provided for adjusting engine cranking. In one example, a method for an engine cold start may include extending engine cranking at least based on one or more engine cold start conditions, where extending engine cranking may increase an engine oil pressure in a plurality of camshaft phaser cavities of a variable camshaft timing (VCT) phaser. In some examples, the method may further include, after engine cranking, enabling fueling. In this way, fuel efficiency considerations may be balanced with increases to the engine oil pressure such that components of the VCT phaser may be actuated and/or lubricated.
Starting device for starting a combustion engine and handheld work apparatus having said starting device
A starting device for a combustion engine includes a housing relative to which a rope pulley, a spring housing and an entrainer can rotate about a rotation axis. A coupling unit produces a rotationally-fixed connection between the rope pulley and the spring housing in response to a rotational movement of the rope pulley in a starting direction. The spring housing has a spring receiving space for a tension spring and is connected to an entrainer by the spring. The coupling unit has a first coupling element and a second coupling element, which interact at a contact location which is at a spacing (d) to the rotation axis and is at least as large as the maximum spacing (c) of the tension spring to the rotation axis.
Belt-driven starter-generator
A belt-driven starter-generator includes a rotary shaft, and a pulley belt coupled on an outer peripheral surface of the rotary shaft. A key is press-fitted into a pocket formed between the rotary shaft and the pulley belt so as to fix the rotary shaft to the pulley belt. A coupling member is coupled to a thread formed on the outer peripheral surface of the rotary shaft so as to support one side of the pulley belt. Operational reliability and assembly convenience may be improved by the belt-driven starter-generator of the present disclosure.
CONTROL APPARATUS
A control apparatus for a rotating electric machine is provided. The rotating electric machine includes a moving portion that applies torque to a drive shaft of an internal combustion engine. The control apparatus acquires a rotational frequency signal that is a signal that changes depending on a rotational frequency of the moving portion per unit time. The control apparatus calculates a damping torque that is applied from the moving portion to the drive shaft to suppress vibration during operation of the internal combustion engine. The control apparatus calculates the damping torque based on the rotational frequency signal acquired by the signal acquiring unit in response to the rotating electric machine performing cranking of the internal combustion engine.
STARTING DEVICE FOR STARTING A COMBUSTION ENGINE AND HANDHELD WORK APPARATUS HAVING SAID STARTING DEVICE
A starting device for a combustion engine includes a housing relative to which a rope pulley, a spring housing and an entrainer can rotate about a rotation axis. A coupling unit produces a rotationally-fixed connection between the rope pulley and the spring housing in response to a rotational movement of the rope pulley in a starting direction. The spring housing has a spring receiving space for a tension spring and is connected to an entrainer by the spring. The coupling unit has a first coupling element and a second coupling element, which interact at a contact location which is at a spacing (d) to the rotation axis and is at least as large as the maximum spacing (c) of the tension spring to the rotation axis.
Electric starter with manual turning function
Disclosed is an electric starter with a manual turning function. A main shaft, a drive gear mechanism, a shift fork, an electromagnetic relay guide rod and a first return spring are arranged in a housing of the electric starter. A gear shifting mechanism comprises a force receiving component which extends out of the housing of the electric starter and serves as an external force applying point so as to promote the electromagnetic relay guide rod to move rightwards, a normally closed switch for cutting off a power supply of the electric starter when the force receiving component moves to an extreme position, a positioning component for locking the force receiving component when the force receiving component moves to the extreme position, and a first return component which enables the force receiving component to automatically returns to an original state when the force receiving component is unlocked. The main shaft is indirectly driven to rotate by the turning mechanism via a transmission mechanism or directly driven to rotate by the turning mechanism via a turning tool. An improvement is made to a structure of a traditional electric starter without affecting existing functions thereof, i.e., a function of manual turning is added. Therefore, a flywheel gear of a motor can be precisely positioned during maintenance so as to improve efficiency and eliminate potential safety hazards.
Methods and system for starting an engine
Systems and methods for operating a hybrid powertrain or driveline that includes an engine and an integrated starter/generator are described. In one example, a clutch is positioned between the engine and the integrated starter/generator to reduce the possibility of the integrated starter/generator exceeding a rated speed of the integrated starter/generator.
