Fastener and method of mounting the same in place
A fastener and a method of mounting the same in place includes a fitting portion, an engaging portion and a filler portion. The fastener passes through a sliding hole of an object, and then the fitting portion presses against the object, allowing a material of the object to enter or flow into the filler portion, so as to fit the fastener and the object firmly together. The engaging portion is engaged with or removed from another object. Therefore, the fastener and the method can couple together and separate at least two objects repeatedly and rapidly.
Fastener using lubricated interference fit
The invention relates to a method for installing metallic fastener (10; 40) for the interference fit assembly of at least two structural elements (20, 22) comprising a through hole, the fastener comprising an enlarged head (12; 42), a shaft (14; 44) having an external diameter before installation that is greater than an internal diameter of the hole, said shaft comprising a conductive surface (26; 56). Before installation, at least the conductive surface (26; 56) is coated with a lubricating layer (30), which comprises a mixture of at least one polyolefin and one polytetrafluoroethylene, for example, having sufficient adherence to prevent its abrasion by manual manipulation of the fastener and being weak enough to be at least partly stripped from the conductive surface during the interference fit assembly of the fastener. The invention is applicable to the assembly of aircraft structures.
Connecting method and connecting apparatus
A connecting method includes: measuring at least one of control dimensions that influence a dimension of a member obtained by connection of a first member and a second member to each other, the second member including a connection insertion portion where the first member is inserted; determining, according to the at least one of the control dimensions, a relative position for positioning the first member and the second member by insertion of the first member in the connection insertion portion; heating the second member to a first temperature; inserting the first member in the connection insertion portion to place the first member and the second member in the relative position; and stopping the heating of the second member and maintaining the first member and the second member in the relative position.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INDUCTION SHRINK FITTING
An induction heating system can be adapted for shrink fitting a plurality of different assemblies. A plurality of tooling units associated to respective ones of the assemblies, each one having an appropriately configured induction coil and holder, can be provided. A computer can be used to control the delivery of electrical power to the induction coil in accordance with a heating recipe, and can be provided with an input device for inputting an assembly identifier allowing the computer to operate the control based on the right heating recipe.
Crankshaft, method of assembling the crankshaft, rotary compressor and refrigeration-cycle device
According to one embodiment, a crank portion is formed from a crank piece, an element separate from a shaft portion. The crank piece includes a fitting hole in which the shaft portion is fit by predetermined “interference” and a slit-like slot with one end opened in an inner circumferential surface of the fitting hole, and an other end closed inside the crank piece. The fitting hole is deformed so as to expand its diameter when expanding a width of the slot. The shaft portion is fit in the fitting hole of the crank piece by the predetermined “interference” when inserted in the deformed fitting hole and the fitting hole restores an original form while the shaft portion is in the fitting hole.
Fitting member, annular member, joined member and method of manufacturing joined member
To provide a fitting member, an annular member, a joined member and a method of manufacturing the joined member, which prevent occurrence of a not-joined portion. A fitting member 10 has a fitting protrusion 10p which is protruded outward on an outside face 10s. An annular member 20 contains a space 20h in which the fitting member 10 is to be fitted. An annular member 20 has an annular protrusion 20p on an inside face 20f. When the fitting member 10 is fitted into the space 20h at a predetermined depth, the fitting protrusion 10p and the annular protrusion 20p fill not-joined portions which may be generated assuming that they are not provided. A joined member 30 is produced by fitting the fitting member 10 into the space 20h at the predetermined depth, so that a contact portion between the fitting member 10 and the annular member 20 is joined in solid phase.
PRESS-FIT-INTERLOCKING CONNECTION AND BELT TENSIONER HAVING SUCH A CONNECTION
A press-fit-interlocking connection of an inner part to an outer part which is fastened to the inner part includes a cylindrical press joint (3) between the outer part and the inner part. The interlocking connection is formed by an axial stop having contacting stop parts (18, 19) on the inner part and on the outer part. The connection has an edge support in contact with the stop parts which contact one another, in a first main plane of curvature (E.sub.1) to which the cylinder axis of the press joint is perpendicular, with equal radii of curvature (r.sub.a1, r.sub.a2), and in a second main plane of curvature (E.sub.2) in which the cylinder axis of the press joint lies, with different radii of curvature (r.sub.a2, r.sub.i2).
METHOD OF MANUFACTURING JOINED MEMBER
A method of manufacturing a joined member where joining portions of at least two members are integrally formed with each other by press working thus joining said at least two members, the method comprises an engaging step, an inserting step, and a press working step.
Decoupling assembly for a plumbing network
A vessel, such as a rocket motor tube, comprised of an insert, and a joint that allows the insert to decouple from the vessel to relieve pressure when subjected to excessive temperatures and/or a predetermined temperature or temperature range.
System for retaining an image within a frame
A spline installation device for use with a spline/rail type frame to assemble the splines to the rails. The device including a base that defines a platform for receiving a frame subassembly; and a plurality of linkages that are disposed about the platform and coupled to the base. Each linkage is configured to move between a first position in which a fence bearing surface thereof is at an angle other than 90 degrees relative to the platform and a second position in which the fence bearing surface is set at an at least substantially 90 degree angle relative to the platform for locking and holding the frame subassembly in place. The linkages further being configured to receive a spline instillation tool for locking the splines in place relative to the rails.
