An indoor-outdoor novelty device which simulates moving open flame from the upper end of a standing torch. The device provides a realistic illusion of a bright flame changing its shape and brightness pseudorandomly thru a unique combination of lighting, motion, and airflow under microcontroller control. The device can be viewed from a vantage point in a 360-degree perimeter around the device without compromise to the effect.

LUMINAIRE WITH INTEGRATED SELF-TEST

The invention relates to a luminaire (10) comprising illuminants (170) for generating light, and a control unit (110) for controlling the illuminants (170), and at least one further element (140), in particular an operator control element (143) or a sensor (142), for generating control information that influences the operation of the luminaire (10), wherein the control unit (110) is configured in such a way that a self-test is carried out after a supply voltage has been applied to the luminaire (10). Said self-test is carried out automatically and independently in an analysis mode of the luminaire (10), wherein the control unit (110) checks the luminaire (10) for the presence and/or the functionality of the at least one further element (140). Depending on the checking result, and the type of further unit (140) checked, the control unit (110) controls the illuminants (170) such that a temporally variable light emission (171) signals the checking result. Measuring devices (200, 210, 220) are additionally specified which detect the checking result by measurement of operating parameters of the luminaire (10) and present this information preferably by way of a display (211, 221) of the measuring device (200, 210, 220). A method is likewise specified which includes checking the at least one further element (140) and controlling the illuminants (170) by means of the control unit (110).

OPTICAL DEVICE AND DESK LAMP COMPRISING SAID OPTICAL DEVICE
20230011942 · 2023-01-12 ·

The present invention relates to an optical device that enables a light beam from a light source to be redirected in a specific direction and without having to adjust the tilt angle of the light source with respect to a horizontal working plane, distributing the light homogeneously in said horizontal working plane, wherein the invention furthermore relates to a desk lamp comprising said optical device which avoids the problem of blinding generated by the direct line of sight of the light source, since the light source is arranged below the viewing plane of a user who uses said desk lamp, in addition to the fact that said desk lamp does not invade the user's work area.

Directional light mounting system

A light directing apparatus is disclosed. The light directing apparatus including a light mounting fixture, a ball joint including a ball stud having a round head on a first end and a stud shaft on a second end in which the stud shaft mounted to the light mounting fixture and a magnetic housing magnetically coupling the ball joint and the magnetic housing by a magnetic force of the magnetic housing such that the magnetic housing has a concave mount surface to accommodate the round head of the ball joint therein allowing the ball joint to move freely within the concave opening such that the light mounting fixture is rotatable in a 360 degree range around the ball joint and movable 180 degrees in a latitudinal and a longitudinal direction. The light directing apparatus further includes a moveable arm affixed to the magnetic housing by a sleeve mount.

ARTIFICIAL CANDLE AND ITS LIGHT BULB
20180003352 · 2018-01-04 ·

The present invention provides an artificial candle includes a hollow cylinder, an electric wire, and a light bulb. The light bulb includes a light source with a long strip shape, a cup sleeved on and fixed to the electric wire at a position near the first end of the electric wire, an outer cover covered on the cup, and an inner cover sleeved on the light source and defining a receiving space with the cup for receiving a part of the light source and the second end of the electric wire. The light transmitted of the inner cover is less than that of the outer cover and that of the cup. The inner cover is configured for reflecting light emitted from the part, received in the receiving space, of the light source towards the wire holder and an exposed part of the electric wire. A simulating effect of flame is improved.

SYSTEM FOR RESEMBLING AN OPEN CANDLE FLAME
20180010750 · 2018-01-11 ·

A system simulating an open candle flame is provided in the present invention. In a preferred embodiment, the present system comprises a gyro-levitation unit including two spinning wheels with axes mutually perpendicular to each other to allow a two-degree of rotational freedom resembling the open candle flame motion caused by air flow in its surrounding environment. A mechatronics based actuator made of a bi-metal is employed to disturb the equilibrium of the gyroscope by exerting an actuating force against the gyro-levitation unit. Electric current controlled by a dedicated electronic unit flowing through the actuator allows reciprocal linear motion aligned with the visible light pattern of the candle flame. Varying light intensity of the candle flame is obtained as a combination of two light sources with one transmitted to a flame display through an optical device by total internal reflection and another one by projecting on its sideway.
