Mineral Additive Blend Compositions and Methods for Operating Waste to Energy Combustors for Improving their Operational Performance and Availability, Protecting Combustor Materials and Equipment, Improving Ash Quality and Avoiding Combustion Problems
Mineral additives and a method for operating a waste-to-energy furnace are provided in order to improve its operational performance and availability, increase the lifetime of the combustor building materials (refractory walls and heat-exchanger metallic tubes) and flue gas treatment equipment, improve ash quality, reduce emissions and avoid combustion problems such as agglomeration, slagging, deposition, and corrosion. A method for operating a waste-to-energy furnace, such as a fluidized bed reactor, pulverized-fuel combustor, grate combustor includes introducing mineral additive into the furnace. The method further includes heating at least a portion of the mineral additive either intimately in contact with the fuel, such that the ability of mineral additive to induce crystallization of the surface of forming ashes is enhanced, or minimizing the contact of the mineral additive with the fuel and the forming ashes, such that the solid-gas reactions between the mineral additive and the volatile compounds in the flue gas are favored and the mineral additive power to capture at least a portion of the inorganic volatile compounds present in the furnace is enhanced.
A METHOD AND DEVICE FOR REGULATING A PROCESS WITHIN A SYSTEM, IN PARTICULAR A COMBUSTION PROCESS IN A POWER STATION
A method and apparatus for controlling a process in a system comprising pre-processing of a raw material, processing the pre-processed raw material and acquisition of the result of the processing of the pre-processed raw material, comprising the steps of: capturing input and output variables of the pre-processing; capturing output variables of the processing of the pre-processed raw material; creating a first, second and third process model for at least two different time scales, which describes the effects of adapting the pre-processing of raw material, the effects of adapting the processing of the pre-processed raw material, the effects of adapting the pre-processing of raw material and adapting the processing of pre-processed raw material on the output variables of the processing of pre-processed raw material; wherein the process in the system is controlled using the prediction of the process model which currently provides the best predictions for the process in the system.
FUEL CONDITIONER FOR GRILL
A cooking apparatus can include an enclosure defining a heating chamber configured to be heated and used for cooking food, a burn box proximate to the enclosure and which is configured to provide heat to the heating chamber, a hopper fluidly coupled to the burn box and configured to hold fuel, and a fuel conditioner disposed between the hopper and the burner to condition the fuel prior to burning in the burner. The fuel conditioner can be, for example, a wood chipper configured to reduce the size of the fuel.

PULVERIZED COAL DRYING SYSTEM FOR PULVERIZER, PULVERIZED COAL DRYING METHOD THEREFOR, PULVERIZED COAL DRYING PROGRAM, PULVERIZER, AND INTEGRATED GASIFICATION COMBINED CYCLE
An object of the present invention is to provide a pulverized coal drying system for a pulverizer, a pulverized coal drying method therefor, a pulverized coal drying program, a pulverizer, and an integrated gasification combined cycle capable of stably drying a carbonaceous feedstock irrespective of the type of the carbonaceous feedstock to be used. There is provided a controller (50) of a pulverizer (10) that dries a supplied carbonaceous feedstock by using a drying fluid and includes a flow rate controller that controls the flow rate of the drying fluid within upper and lower limits of the flow rate of the drying fluid that are set to dry a plurality of types or the carbonaceous feedstock having different moisture contents in such a way that the temperature of the drying fluid discharged from the pulverizer (10) approaches a target temperature.
Desulfurization system using catalyst for desulfurization
Disclosed is a desulfurization system using a catalyst for desulfurization, including a coal feed unit for conveying a combustible substance, a spray unit for spraying a catalyst for desulfurization, a coal pulverization unit for pulverizing the combustible substance conveyed from the coal feed unit, and a combustion unit for combusting the pulverized combustible substance, wherein during transfer of the combustible substance from the coal feed unit to the coal pulverization unit, the catalyst for desulfurization is sprayed using the spray unit and is mixed with the combustible substance. The desulfurization system of the invention can be simply and easily applied to various combustion facilities because, during the transfer of the combustible substance from the coal feed unit to the coal pulverization unit, the catalyst for desulfurization is sprayed and is mixed with the combustible substance, thereby efficiently reducing sulfur oxide (SO.sub.x) emission due to combustion of fossil fuel.
COMBUSTION SYSTEM WITH WIDE TURNDOWN COAL BURNER
A combustion system for a coal fired furnace having a windbox includes a source of a mixture of pulverized coal and air, and a splitter that receives the mixture and splits it into first and second mixed streams. A first nozzle receives the first mixed stream and discharges it into the furnace. A separator receives the second mixed stream and separates it into an air stream and a coal rich stream. An air conduit connected between the separator and the source of the mixture causes at least some of the air stream to be fed back into the mixture. A second nozzle receives the coal rich stream and discharges it into the furnace. A third nozzle receives support air from the windbox and discharges it into the furnace in a combustion supporting relationship with respect to the coal rich stream.
