Burner and Modular Heat Utilizing Appliances Therefor
A burner for burning fuels and modular heat utilizing appliances therefor. The burner includes a fuel holder, an outer wall surrounding the fuel holder and defining a combustion chamber, and optionally, a second wall surrounding the outer wall. Air is inducted from an inlet which may be an ash pan pivotally coupled to the outer wall at the bottom to open the combustion chamber. Supplementary combustion air is conducted to just above the fuel holder by the outer wall. Additional supplementary combustion air is conducted to just above the fuel holder by the second wall. The burner may include a pivotally mounted cooking grate and a pivotally mounted solid cover for closing the combustion chamber, and supporting legs. Modules individually yet replaceably attachable to the burner include a closed or open cooker, a smoker, a space heater, and a pyrolyzer.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR OBTAINING POTABLE WATER FROM FOSSIL FUELS
A process of producing potable water, by combining a hydrocarbon containing fossil fuel with oxygen, in a combustion device, such as a home heating or utility unit to produce a flue gas of water vapor and carbon dioxide, and condensing the water vapor in the flue gas to yield potable water. The combustion device can produce heat or electricity. The water vapor can be condensed with one or more heat exchange devices. The source of oxygen can be air, pure oxygen, or nitrogen reduced air. The source of oxygen can be humidified, such as with a non-potable water source or non-potable water can be added to the flue gas. The carbon dioxide and/or nitrogen in the flue gas can be reduced or removed before the condensation step(s). The pressure of the flue gas can be increased prior to condensation of the water vapor. Natural gas is a preferred fuel.
Convective indoor and outdoor hybrid heating system
A convection outdoor or indoor gas heater is provided, the heater comprising: a top; a first wall; a combustion chamber which includes a vent cap with a plurality of vents, the vent cap proximate to the top, the combustion chamber housed within the first wall, spaced apart from the first wall to define a first interstitial passageway, the first interstitial passageway in fluid communication with the plurality of vents; a gas burner assembly which is housed in the combustion chamber; a second wall spaced apart from the first wall to define a second interstitial passageway, the second interstitial passageway in fluid communication with the first interstitial passageway; a base which supports the first wall, the second wall and the combustion chamber; a combustion air inlet in fluid communication with the combustion chamber; an ambient air inlet in fluid communication with the second interstitial passageway; and an outlet in fluid communication with the first interstitial passageway.
Systems and methods of providing micro-renewable electrical energy
Various implementations of a system that addresses the need for clean drinking water, improved solid fuel combustion and convection of the heat resulting from the combustion, exhausting of gases and air-borne particulates resulting from combustion, and provides electricity for lighting and charging of battery-operated devices are described herein. The system may include at least one solar panel, a battery, a fan assisted exhaust hood, a fan assisted cooking device, and a water purification device. Such a device could not only save millions of lives, but the quality of life for millions of people living in impoverished areas or refugee camps could be improved dramatically.
