Ammunition cartridge comprising a rigid casing including a tubular sleeve and a base closing an end of the casing, a projectile mounted at another end of the casing, a propellant charge contained inside the casing, and an ignition device. The ignition device comprises an ignition charge arranged to ignite the propellant charge at a point of ignition distal from the base and proximal the projectile.

Firearm cleaning shell

A bore cleaning device is configured to clean a bore of a firearm. The device includes a propellant providing a force to push the projectile down the bore of the firearm, a cup comprising at least one hole in a bottom surface of the cup, a dense material within the cup, wherein the dense material is configured to deform and press radially outwardly against the cup as the propellant provides propelling force to the dense material. The device further includes a bore rearward charge cap and a frame. The frame includes a bore forward plate located within the cup, a frame leg connecting the bore rearward charge cap and the bore forward plate and passing through the hole in the bottom surface of the cup.

Thermoformed projectile cartridge

An axisymmetric disk-shaped cartridge is provided for firing from a gun having a fluted bore. The cartridge is initiated by a firing pin and includes a primer core, a propellant charge, a booster charge, a projectile mass, an ablative cap and a ductile metal coating. The projectile mass is disposed over the booster charge while the ablative cap is disposed over the projectile mass. The coating and mass elongate and radially narrow to maintain axial symmetry while being accelerated along the bore.

Spectroscopy for gunshot residue analysis

The present invention relates to a method of detecting inorganic gunshot residue (GSR) particles. The method includes providing a sample comprising gunshot residue, subjecting the sample to spectroscopic analysis to produce a spectroscopic signature for the sample, and identifying inorganic gunshot residue particles based on the spectroscopic signature for the sample. Also disclosed is a method of detecting gunshot residue particles. The method includes providing a sample comprising gunshot residue, subjecting the sample to spectroscopic analysis to produce a spectroscopic signature for the sample, where the spectroscopic signature spans a range of wavenumbers, creating one or more spectroscopic maps from the spectroscopic signature for the sample, where each different spectroscopic map is for a different wavenumber, and identifying gunshot residue particles based on the one or more spectroscopic maps for the sample.
