Magnetic-Inductive Wireless Detonator with Quantum Receiver
A wireless detonator circuit includes a nitrogen-doped diamond quantum receiver. The nitrogen is embedded inside a diamond substrate. A light source illuminates the nitrogen-doped diamond. A number of layered optical filters, which are based on the principles of interferometry, and are in communication with the light source. One or more photodetector cells measure the quantity of photons emitted by the light source. One or more microwave antennae are located to permit even polarization of the diamond, thereby permitting magnetic field detection sensitivity in the picotesla range.
Fuze setting systems and techniques
Techniques and architecture are disclosed for a system that includes a fuze at a leading end of a projectile body and a fuze setter configured to engage the fuze and to program the same prior to launch. The system, in one example, includes a plurality of electrical contact pads on an exterior surface of a fuze radome housing and a plurality of electrical contact pins on the fuze setter. The electrical contact pads are arranged in a rotationally symmetric pattern that enables an electrical interface to be formed with the electrical contact pins, regardless of the rotational orientation of the fuze. Commutation is performed to rotate signals to the electrical contact pins instead of requiring that the fuze be physically rotated to bring the electrical contact pads into alignment with the electrical contact pins.
Safety and arming unit
The present invention relates to a safety and arming unit for initiation of underwater charges, comprising: a housing; a detonator; an interrupter slidable within the housing from a first position in which a firing chain from the detonator to a charge is interrupted, to a second position, in which the firing chain is complete; a first member configured to cooperate with the housing and the interrupter to form a first interlock, wherein, upon the first member being in a first position, said interlock locks said interrupter in said first position, and upon the first member being in a second position, said interrupter is free to slide relative to said first member; a second member configured to cooperate with the housing and the interrupter to form a second interlock, mechanically independent of said first interlock, wherein, upon the second member being in a first position, the interlock locks said interrupter in said first position, and upon the second member being in a second position, said interrupter is free to slide relative to said second member; and a plurality of electrical switches arranged in series, switchable from a first configuration in which the detonator is electrically isolated from a remote initiation firing system, to a second configuration in which the detonator is in electrical communication with a remote initiation firing system; wherein, upon the first member being in the second position, and the second member being in the second position, the interrupter is slidable from the first position to the second position upon being subjected to an external water pressure of at least a predefined threshold value. Upon the interrupter being in the second position, the interrupter acts on the plurality of electrical switches to switch said plurality of switches to said second configuration.
AUTOMATED DETONATION OF FIREWORKS
A fireworks kit can have a set of fireworks having multiple fireworks of different types and a plurality of detonators in communication with the fireworks that are configured to launch or detonate a firework attached thereto. A remote controller or mobile device can be in communication with the detonators and operable to provide dynamic or user customizable control of detonation, launching, or ignition of the fireworks.
FUZE FOR A PROJECTILE INTENDED TO BE FIRED BY A CANNON
A fuze for a projectile intended to be fired by a cannon by ignition of a propellant charge using an electric igniter. This fuze is allowed to pass from a safety position to an armed position following the fire by releasing at least two different safeties. This fuze includes a capacitor which is intended to be connected to the electric igniter and which charges during the ignition of the propellant charge, and also a computer which detects the charge of the capacitor in order to allow the arming of the fuze when this charge is greater than or equal to a reference value, the charge of the capacitor constituting a first fire safety.
Axial flux machine for use with projectiles
A powered projectile having a nose portion, a body portion, a tail portion, and a central axis. In various embodiments a collar is rotatably mounted to a control support portion with a plurality of aerodynamic surfaces thereon for despinning the collar. An alternator configured as an axial flux machine with a stator arranged can be axially adjacent to one or more rotors, the stator including a plurality of windings and the one or more rotors each including a plurality of permanent magnets arranged about the face of the respective one or more rotor. In various embodiments the projectile includes an assembly of projectile control circuitry. In one or more embodiments, upon relative motion of the rotor with respect to the stator, magnetic flux from the magnets interacts with the windings of the stator and passes through an air gap between the one or more rotors and stator.
Inertial Igniters for Low-G and Long Duration Firing Acceleration Munitions and the Like
An inertial mechanism including an activating mechanism and a time delay mechanism coupled to the activating mechanism for delaying a time in which the activating mechanism is activated after a predetermined acceleration profile occurs. Where a coupling of the time delay mechanism with the activating mechanism to activate the activating mechanism initially moves away from the coupling when the predetermined acceleration profile occurs before the coupling occurs after a time delay.
Chemical agent delivery receptacle with reusable digital control cartridge
A digitally controlled hand-tossable explosive delivery receptacle comprises a ruggedized reusable compartment enclosing a digital circuit and a disposable cartridge holding one or more explosive chemical agents and a primer. The disposable cartridge is configured to be mounted to the ruggedized reusable cartridge, and a high-strength bulkhead incorporated into the reusable or disposable compartment that separates the digital circuit from the chemical agents. The reusable compartment is sufficiently ruggedized to withstand the ignition of the primer and the detonation of the chemical agents to be reused with one or more additional disposable cartridges. In one implementation, the delivery receptacle uses a commercial airbag initiator as the primer, which is arranged in relation to the one or more chemical agents so that when the initiator is activated, it generates a pressure wave that expels the one or more chemical agents from the grenade.
