VEHICLE OPERATION SAFETY MODEL COMPLIANCE MEASUREMENT
System and techniques for vehicle operation safety model (VOSM) compliance measurement are described herein. A subject vehicle is tested in a vehicle following scenario against VOSM parameter compliance. The test measures the subject vehicle activity during phases of the following scenario in which a lead vehicle slows and produces log data and calculations that form the basis of a VOSM compliance measurement.
Azimuth estimation for directional drilling
A method may comprise measuring during a survey operation a gravitational field data using a survey accelerometer and magnetic field data using a survey magnetometer and determining during a drilling operation an azimuth of a wellbore based on the gravitational field data and the magnetic field data obtained during the survey operation. A system may comprise a drilling rig; a pipe string attached to the drilling rig; a bottom hole assembly attached to the pipe string, wherein the bottom hole assembly comprises at least one sensor; a drill bit, wherein the at least one sensor measure a revolutions-per-minute (RPM) of the drill bit; and a computing subsystem.

Absolute acceleration sensor for use within moving vehicles
A communication system for a vehicle comprises a mechanism for sensing a motion status of a vehicle, a control device, plurality of data acquisition sensors, and one or more alerting device activation circuits. The communication system is customizable with the plurality of data acquisition sensors and one or more alerting device activation circuits based upon the needs of the vehicle.
Damage diagnosis device, damage diagnosis method, and recording medium in which damage diagnosis program is stored
A damage diagnosis device is provided with: a detection unit for detecting that, immediately after a vehicle crossing a bridge has exited from the bridge, another vehicle is not crossing the bridge; a determination unit for determining whether the weight of the vehicle satisfies a criterion; and a diagnosis unit that, when the detection unit has detected that no other vehicle is crossing the bridge and the determination unit has determined that the weight of the vehicle satisfies the criterion, diagnoses damage to the bridge on the basis of information representing free vibration generated in the bridge due to the crossing of the vehicle, thereby improving the precision of diagnosis when damage to a bridge is diagnosed on the basis of information representing free vibration generated in the bridge due to the crossing of a vehicle.

METHOD OF DETERMINING THE CENTER OF LOADING OF A ROLLING ELEMENT
A method of determining the center of loading of a rolling element includes providing a rolling element body and at least three load sensors. The sensors are each positioned within a bore of the rolling element body at a separate distance from a reference position. Load measurements are taken with each one of the sensors at various positions about the circumference of the bearing and the center of loading is calculated at each one of the positions to determine the variation in axial loading about the bearing circumference.
WHITEWATER HELMET EVALUATION SYSTEM AND METHOD
Various embodiments relating to methods for evaluating injury mitigation performance of helmets that are used for sports (e.g., whitewater kayaking and rafting) are described. In one embodiment, a method for evaluating injury mitigation performance of a helmet includes applying a first impact configuration to a first helmet and applying a second impact configuration to a second helmet of the same model as the first helmet. The method further includes generating acceleration data based on impacts that occur as part of the first impact configuration and the second impact configuration. The method further includes determining concussion risk values based on the generated acceleration data. The method also includes determining a concussion risk metric based on the concussion risk values and exposure values.
Locking mechanism including energy storage
Certain aspects of the technology disclosed herein include an apparatus and method for storing energy in a electromechanical lock. The electromechanical lock can include a main housing and a deadbolt. The main housing can be configured to extend a deadbolt along a path to lock and/or unlock a door. The deadbolt can have a hollow inner region configured to receive an energy storage device. The energy storage device within the deadbolt can be electrically connected to the main housing. The energy storage device can be used to power an actuator and/or accelerometer in the main housing.
SUBSEA CONNECTOR
An independently mountable sensor system for a wet-mateable subsea connector or a dry-mateable subsea connector having at least one of a receptacle connector body or a plug connector body with a pressure vessel; one or more sensors, a power source, a transmitter, a processor and a memory within the pressure vessel. The pressure inside the pressure vessel is maintained at a predetermined pressure and an antenna is provided in the sensor system. The pressure vessel includes an electromagnetically transparent section to permit electromagnetic waves to pass between the sensor system and an external receiver. The sensor system is configured to be mounted between a back end and a front end of the receptacle connector body, or between a back end and a front end of the plug connector body; or configured to be mounted to the connector body back end.
