IMAGING SYSTEM
An imaging system for creating an image of a target object comprising a mirror mounted on a gimbal and arranged to rotate about at least one axis, a gimbal drive unit configured to control the orientation of the gimbal, and a camera having its optical axis directed onto the mirror in order that an image reflected in the mirror is within a field of view of the camera, wherein the control unit is arranged to position the gimbal such that a reflection of a target object is within a field of view of the camera.
OPTICAL PARTICLE SORTER
A process for optically sorting a plurality of particles includes: providing a particle receiver; producing particles; receiving the particles by the particle receiver; receiving a light by the particle receiver; producing a standing wave optical interference pattern in an optical interference site of the particle receiver from the light; subjecting the particles to an optical gradient force from the standing wave optical interference pattern; deflecting the particles into a plurality of deflected paths to form the sorted particles from the particles; and propagating the sorted particles from the optical interference site through the deflected paths to optically sort the particles
Optical fiber structures and methods for varying laser beam profile
In various embodiments, the beam parameter product and/or numerical aperture of a laser beam is adjusted utilizing a step-clad optical fiber having a central core, a first cladding, an annular core, and a second cladding.

BINOCULAR OPTICAL DISPLAY SYSTEM
Described herein is an improved optical display system for a head or helmet mounted display (HMD). The optical display system comprises an intermediate reflective element that comprises an array of microstructures. Separate image generators are provided which generate images which are projected onto a user's left and right eyes and by use of the intermediate reflective element, the image generator located on the left side of the HMD generates an image for the user's left eye and the image generator located on the right side of the HMD generates an image for the user's right eye. As described below, this improved optical display system may, in various examples, be coupled with a vision enhancement system.
HIGH PRECISION OPTICAL LOCKER
In some implementations, an optical assembly comprises an optical cavity; one or more detectors; and an optical component having an input face and an output face configured to receive an input beam to the input face and to produce one or more primary output beams, and a plurality of secondary output beams from the output face, the secondary output beams resulting from multiple internal reflections within the optical component. At least one of the input face is not perpendicular to the input beam or the output face is not perpendicular to the one or more primary output beams. Each primary output beam is transmitted through the optical cavity perpendicular to at least one surface of the optical cavity, and directed to a respective one of the one or more detectors. Each detector is arranged to exclude at least a portion of each secondary output beam.
COMPACT ETALON STRUCTURE
An etalon may include a plurality of reflectors, wherein at least one reflector, of the plurality of reflectors, is partially reflecting of light in a frequency range and each other reflector, of the plurality of reflectors is either partially or fully reflecting of light in the frequency range, and wherein the plurality of reflectors comprises at least three reflectors arranged to define a volume of a resonant optical cavity.
Compact annular field imager and method for imaging electromagnetic radiation
The present disclosure provides an optical imager and a method for imaging electromagnetic radiation. In one aspect, the optical imager includes an object array substantially located at an object plane, a first catadioptric element configured to substantially collimate, at a central plane, electromagnetic radiation emanating from the object array, a second catadioptric element configured to image the substantially collimated electromagnetic radiation from the central plane onto an image plane, and a detecting element substantially located at the image plane. The first catadioptric element includes at least one refractive surface and at least one reflective surface, and the second catadioptric element includes at least one refractive surface and at least one reflective surface.
