LIQUID ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHIC VARNISH COMPOSITION

A liquid electrophotographic varnish composition comprising: a polymer resin; an epoxy-based cross-linking agent; a solid catalyst comprising at least one amine group; and a carrier liquid.

Printing sheet

A printing sheet is formed of a base material film, a toner fixing layer formed on one principal surface of the base material film, a planarization layer formed on the other principal surface of the base material film, an adhesive layer formed on the surface of the planarization layer, and a peeling film stuck on the surface of the adhesive layer. The base material film has a laminated structure composed of a white foamed PET film layer on the toner fixing layer side and a transparent non-foamed PET film layer on the adhesive layer side, and the strength of the printing sheet is improved by the combined use of the non-foamed PET film. The planarization layer is formed of a colored ink layer, e.g. white ink layer, and increases the bonding area of the adhesive layer with the base material film side, thereby achieving smooth peeling from an adherend.

A process for preparing a printed rigid plastic substrate is described, the process comprising: providing a rigid plastic substrate comprising a primer on a surface of the rigid plastic substrate, the primer comprising a primer resin; printing a liquid electrophotographic ink composition comprising a thermoplastic resin onto the primer on the surface of the rigid plastic substrate; depositing a cross-linking composition comprising a cross-linker onto the printed electrophotographic ink composition disposed on the primer; and laminating the rigid plastic substrate with a flexible film such that the ink composition and the cross-linker are disposed between the rigid substrate and the flexible film and wherein the lamination of the rigid substrate with the flexible film causes cross-linking of the thermoplastic resin of the ink composition and of the primer resin.

Intermediate transfer member

An intermediate transfer member (ITM) for use with a printing system, the ITM having (a) a support layer; and (b) a release layer having an ink reception surface and a second surface opposing the ink reception surface, the second surface attached to the support layer, the release layer formed of an addition-cured, hydrophobic silicone material, wherein the release surface of the release layer has relatively hydrophilic properties with respect to the addition-cured, hydrophobic silicone material.

ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHIC BELT AND ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHIC IMAGE-FORMING APPARATUS

An electrophotographic belt includes a base layer containing a binder resin and carbon black in the binder resin. The binder resin contains at least one resin selected from the group consisting of PEEK and PPS. A water content calculated by ((X2−X1)/X2)×100 is 0.6% where X1 is a mass of a specimen cut out of the base layer when in a nitrogen atmosphere a temperature of the specimen is increased from 30° C. to 100° C. at a rate of 20° C./min. and maintained at 100° C. for 30 min, and X2 is a mass of the specimen when in a nitrogen atmosphere the specimen is thereafter cooled from 100° C. to 30° C. at a rate of 20° C./min. and the specimen is left to stand in the air under an environment of a temperature of 23° C. and a relative humidity of 50% for 48 hours.

PRIMER COMPOSITION AND METHOD

A method for determining coat weight of a transparent primer coating for liquid electrophotographic printing processes is described, in which an optical brightening agent is added to an aqueous transparent primer composition in an amount of less than 0.1 wt. % based on the total solids content of the primer composition to produce a test composition, the test composition is applied onto a test substrate to produce a transparent primer coating, the fluorescence of the transparent primer coating is measured, and the coat weight of the transparent primer coating based on the fluorescence of the transparent primer coating is determined.
