20180010924 · 2018-01-11 ·

A control device for a meter device, particularly a water meter device, includes a first data interface for a meter unit measuring a flow of a fluid of the meter device, a second data interface for a reading device communicating with the meter unit through the control device, and a supply interface receiving a combined clock and voltage supply signal for the control device. The control device can assume a read mode in which data at the first data interface can be transmitted by the control device to the second data interface upon receiving a clock and voltage supply signal having a read signal variation. The control device can additionally assume a write mode in which data at the second data interface can be transmitted to the first data interface upon receiving a clock and voltage supply signal with a write signal variation different from the read signal variation.

Systems and methods for protecting retail display merchandise from theft

Security systems and methods configured for use with an item of merchandise for retail display include a housing, at least one sensor carried by the housing and at least one output device carried by the housing. The security system further includes a controller carried by the housing and operably coupled to the sensor and to the output device. The controller is operable to determine a distance traveled by the item of merchandise from a retail display “home” position based upon a sensor input from the sensor, and to activate the output device based upon the distance traveled by the item of merchandise exceeding a threshold distance. The controller may utilize the at least one sensor in conjunction with an inertial navigation system (INS) and motion processing algorithms or techniques to determine the distance traveled by the item of merchandise from the retail display “home” position.

Alarm management system with blockchain technology

An alarm management system includes a control arrangement, an alarm device, a blockchain, a blockchain application, and a plurality of nodal access sites. The arrangement includes a processor and a storage medium. The device is configured to output an event signal to the control arrangement. The blockchain is stored in the medium, and includes a plurality of transaction types. Each transaction type includes at least one linked transaction, and the at least one linked transaction is time stamped. The blockchain application is stored in the medium, and is executed by the processor, and is configured to time stamp each one of the transactions. The blockchain is applied by the application to determine a current associated transaction with any one of the transaction types, and output data associated with the current transaction. The plurality of nodal access sites are configured to receive and output the data associated with the current transaction.

AUTOMATED VISUAL INSPECTION OF ALARM SYSTEM EVENT DEVICES

Devices, systems, and methods for visually inspecting event devices of a building alarm system are described herein. One mobile device includes a user interface, a display, a memory, and a processor configured to execute executable instructions stored in the memory to generate a list of event devices of an alarm system that are available for visual inspection, provide a device selection tool that allows a user to select one of the event devices from the list of event devices, and provide a visual inspection tool that provides a view of an image of the selected event device on the display.

SYSTEMS AND APPARATUSES FOR PROMOTING COMMUNICATION INTEGRITY BETWEEN PATIENT SUPPORT APPARATUSES AND A NURSE CALL SYSTEM

A wireless communication system for exchanging messages between a patient support apparatus and a headwall unit includes intelligence built into either or both of these devices (and/or a server) for detecting when a mismatch occurs between the communication capabilities of the patient support apparatus and those of the headwall unit. A warning is issued in those situations where a caregiver is relying on communication abilities that are not present in one or both of the devices. Examples of such situations include, but are not limited to, a nurse call cable not being coupled between the patient support apparatus and the nurse call system when the patient support apparatus does not have the capability to wirelessly communicate with the nurse call system. Alternatively, or additionally, the headwall unit may issue an alert to a nurse call system if it detects one or more conditions that warrant immediate caregiver attention.

Method and system for automatically detecting use of an alarm system

A system and method for automatically detecting if a home alarm system is being used and/or actively monitored are disclosed. The system and method use data gathered from one or more sensors, including audio information from microphones. The audio information is analyzed using a machine learning system to determine if the alarm system is being regularly used and monitored. The system and method can also automatically update a policy holder's insurance policy to reflect whether or not an alarm system is being used.

Cooperative monitoring networks
