Computer-implemented method of administering and scoring integrated reasoning question formats

Automated methods and systems are provided for presenting and scoring items which are presented in different question formats that include graphics interpretation, two-part analysis, table analysis, and multi-source reasoning. There are a plurality of response opportunities for each item, and each response opportunity is independent of each other. In operation, an item is presented in the respective question format on a processor-controlled user interface display screen. A response engine receives the response for each response opportunity. A scoring engine in communication with the response engine receives the plurality of responses and scores the plurality of responses by determining whether the response selected for each response opportunity is correct, and assigning credit for the item only if each of the responses for each of the response opportunities is correct, and assigning no credit for the item if at least one of the responses for each of the response opportunities is incorrect.

Systems and methods are provided for preparing, taking and scoring a test, and reporting the results of the test. The methods include electronically storing questions for a test in a database, and inputting teacher preferences for taking the test. The method also comprises electronically transmitting contact data associated with the test to students, so the students can access the test. The method also comprises authenticating student identification when the test is accessed and applying the teacher preferences. The method further comprises electronically selecting test questions for the student based on the teacher preferences applicable to the student. Still further, the method involves electronically submitting answers to the test questions. In addition, the method comprises electronically scoring the answers to the test questions based on the teacher preferences, including electronically sending student test results to the teacher, including a summary of questions requiring manual review for each student.

Computer-aided methods and apparatus to access materials in a network environment
09792659 · 2017-10-17 · ·

A computer-aided learning method and apparatus for a learning user to learn materials inexpensively. Not only does the apparatus provide the user the freedom as to where and when to learn, and the guidance as to what to learn, the apparatus also reduces a significant hurdle to learning—money. The apparatus retrieves a user identifier entered by the user, and determines whether the user is a learning user or an institute user. If the user is a learning user, the apparatus allows the user to access information regarding learning materials. If the user is an institute user, the apparatus permits the user to access information regarding at least one learning user. The institute user might be interested to use the apparatus to recruit employees to fill job openings. A learning user pays significantly less than an institute user to access information, so as to encourage the learning user to work on learning materials. The apparatus can also track and update information regarding the users.

System and method for rendering an assessment item

Systems and methods are provided for rendering an assessment item. A document encoded in a markup language is received. The document includes data that relates to at least one of an appearance and content of an assessment item, and the document includes a reference to a content file. The content file is retrieved, where the content file includes computer-executable instructions for generating an interactive graphical representation for display on a display device. The interactive graphical representation includes one or more features with which a user interacts to respond to the assessment item. The computer-executable instructions are executed based on the data of the document to generate the interactive graphical representation. Data generated based on user manipulation of the one or more features is received. The data generated from the user manipulation is processed to generate a modified graphical representation responsive to the assessment item.

System and method for assessing learning or training progress

A method for assessing a user's progress in learning a plurality of skills is disclosed. The method may include assigning a weighing factor to each of the plurality of skills. For each skill, the method may include providing a plurality of problems to the user, receiving answers to the plurality of problems from the user, and determining an accuracy rate associated with that skill based on the answers. The method may also include determining a probability of obtaining a score equal to or above a predetermined score by the user based on the weighting factors assigned to the plurality of skills and the accuracy rates associated with the plurality of skills.

Constructed response scoring mechanism

A system, method, and related techniques are disclosed for scoring user responses to constructed response test items. The system includes a scoring engine for receiving a user response to a test question and evaluating the response against a scoring rubric. The scoring rubric may include a binding stage, an assertion stage, and a scoring stage. Furthermore, the system includes a database for referencing elements used by the scoring engine which may comprise objects, object sets, attributes of objects, and transformations of any elements.
