METHOD OF HARMONIC TUNING OF AT LEAST ONE GONG OF A WATCH STRIKING MECHANISM
A method for tuning a gong of a striking watch. The gong is fastened at one end to a gong holder, which can be mounted in a watch case. The gong is struck by a hammer to be vibrated on a support of the measuring instrument to determine by a fast Fourier transform frequency peaks in a band of audible frequencies. A comparison in a first natural mode of a vibration frequency in the plane XY with a vibration frequency outside the plane Z is performed and a ratio calculation r=|f1p−f1h|/f1p, where f1p is the vibration frequency in the plane XY, and f1h is the vibration frequency outside the plane Z. If the ratio r is less than or equal to a desired value of 0.006, the gong is tuned. If it is greater, the method is repeated until the ratio value is achieved.

CMOS ultrasonic transducers and related apparatus and methods
CMOS Ultrasonic Transducers and processes for making such devices are described. The processes may include forming cavities on a first wafer and bonding the first wafer to a second wafer. The second wafer may be processed to form a membrane for the cavities. Electrical access to the cavities may be provided.
BELL
A variety of bells are described. In one aspect, a support carries a bell body. A first portion of the support is positioned within the bell cavity and a second portion extends outside the bell cavity through the bell's mouth. A strike lever is coupled to the support at a location within the bell cavity. The strike lever is resiliently biased towards a neutral position that is spaced apart from the bell body. To ring the bell, a user presses the strike lever thereby spring loading the lever as the lever moves away from the bell strike surface. When the strike lever is released, the spring loading causes the strike lever to swing to strike the bell body to ring the bell. The strike lever is configured to strike the bell body while traveling in a direction having a radially outward vector component.
Determining use and validity of vehicles through acoustic emissions
Arrangements are provided for smart functionality with dumb containers, such as for determining medication adherence, tracking product use, and validating product authenticity. An acoustic emitter is engaged with a container or other vehicle. Opening the container causes the acoustic emitter to produce an acoustic emission, without requiring power, processing capacity, or sensors. A cell phone or other station receives and registers acoustic emissions, such as by logging opening of the container, verifying authenticity of the acoustic emission, communicating with an oversight system, or similar. Data as may be encoded in an acoustic emission may include vehicle detection data (e.g., logging a container being opened), vehicle information (e.g., lot number, contents name), vehicle validation (e.g., valid or counterfeit numerical code), and audible user recognition (e.g., brand jingles, warning sounds).
