TIME-ALIGNMENT MEASUREMENT FOR HYBRID HD RADIO tm TECHNOLOGY
20170302432 · 2017-10-19 ·

A method for processing a digital audio broadcast signal in a radio receiver, includes: receiving a hybrid broadcast signal; demodulating the hybrid broadcast signal to produce an analog audio stream and a digital audio stream; and using a normalized cross-correlation of envelopes of the analog audio stream and the digital audio stream to measure a time offset between the analog audio stream and the digital audio stream. The time offset can be used to align the analog audio stream and the digital audio stream for subsequent blending of an output of the radio receiver from the analog audio stream to the digital audio stream or from the digital audio stream to the analog audio stream.

Geocast-based situation awareness
09794860 · 2017-10-17 · ·

Geocast-based situation awareness utilizing a scalable, distributed ad hoc geocast protocol as a communication primitive, may provide a field common operating picture (FCOP) for providing location tracking, movement history, telemetry, and messaging in near real time to all operators in a scenario. Information may be transferred using a query/response geocast message protocol. Caching on devices may be utilized to gain scalability. A query message may have a payload containing a type indication and a header containing a description of a geocast region of intended reception, which may comprise the monitored region, the location of the monitorer, or any appropriate combination thereof. Response messages may be sent from devices located in the monitored region to an area containing the location of the sender of a query. A response message may contain monitored information, such as current location, telemetry data, and/or recent movement history, or the like.

Time to play

A device capable of operating according to a wireless communications protocol, the device being configured to: receive media data from one of a plurality of inputs; determine an offset period of time in dependence on which one of the plurality of inputs the media data is received from; determine a time for playing the received media data in dependence on the determined offset period and a clock value; encapsulate the media data and time data representing the determined time in a broadcast packet; and broadcast the packet in accordance with the wireless communications protocol.

Self-contained, synchronized data communication system nodes as stand-alone pods or embedded in concrete walkways and in walls at public venues including sports and entertainment venues
09743460 · 2017-08-22 ·

A system supports communications of video and data to hand held devices located within a public venue (e.g., sports stadium). A pod includes at least one of a synchronized server and wireless communications electronics. The pod includes an antennae integrated therein. The pod can be deployed as a communications node within the public venue and provides data including video through a data network from at least one server to hand held wireless devices located in the public venue. The pod can include a rechargeable power source sustaining self-contained operation of the wireless communication electronics. An optional solar cell can provide electrical power to charge the rechargeable power source. A pod can be embedded in the wall or floor surface of said public venue and can be provided in the form of a core hole plug.

Method for rendering data in a network and associated mobile device

A method for rendering data in a network is disclosed. The network comprises at least one rendering device and a mobile device. This method, known as a “follow-me” method, comprises a detection of a rendering device by the mobile device thanks to a capture by the mobile device of at least an image of the rendering device; an identification of the detected rendering device by the mobile device from among the at least one rendering device; and a rendering of data on the identified rendering device. An associated mobile device configured to render data on a display device of a network and network device implementing the rendering method are further disclosed.

Media balancer

One or more target schedules is generated based on a single master schedule. Replacement media items are inserted into a target schedule instead of the corresponding media items from the master schedule. The replacement media items are selected from a list of potential media replacement items scored using a scoring method used by a music scheduling system, as corresponding media items in the master schedule. The length of the media items in the list is checked to see if the length falls within a duration delta of the length of the media item being replaced in the master schedule, and to identify items that meet a minimum score threshold. The highest ranking item from the list that satisfies both the score threshold and the duration delta is selected for insertion in the target schedule. Music scheduling systems, such as GSelector®, can be leveraged to generate and score the list.

Proximity based wireless audio connection
09729211 · 2017-08-08 ·

A base device for a portable source device includes an output device and a proximity sensor configured (i) to receive a proximity signal associated with the portable source device when the portable source device is disposed in proximity thereto and (ii) to generate a proximity event notification in response to receiving the proximity signal. The base device includes a controller disposed in electrical communication with the proximity sensor and configured to, in response to receiving the proximity event notification from the proximity sensor, transmit a command signal to the portable source device. The command signal is operable to configure the portable source device to automatically send content to the output device via a wireless communication link.

Systems and methods for syncronizing multiple electronic devices

Embodiments are provided for syncing multiple electronic devices for collective audio playback. According to certain aspects, a master device connects (218) to a slave device via a wireless connection. The master device calculates (224) a network latency via a series of network latency pings with the slave device and sends (225) the network latency to the slave device. Further, the master devices sends (232) a portion of an audio file as well as a timing instruction including a system time to the slave device. The master device initiates (234) playback of the portion of the audio file and the slave devices initiates (236) playback of the portion of the audio file according to the timing instruction and a calculated system clock offset value.
