A method to prepare a beverage in a machine for preparing beverages, including: receiving through a user interface associated with a control and command unit the selection of a type of beverage to be prepared selected between a beverage obtained by infusion, or hot water; disenabling the commands of said user interface not related to the type of beverage selected, and enabling the commands correlated to the type of beverage selected, in order to allow the selection by the user of further specific organoleptic characteristics for the type of beverage selected; receiving and verifying the characteristics selected and conditioning the various functioning factors of said machine in relation to the specific selected characteristics and the operating parameters provided for the specific selected beverage.
Single-serve refill pod
Refillable pod can be reused to brew a beverage with a single-serve brewer. The refillable pod has a funnel at about six O'clock position near the front of the cap to drain the beverage without substantially coming to contact the brewing mechanism. The refillable pod may have a handle which can be used by the user to insert the refillable pod into the brewer so that funnel can be positioned at about six O'clock position within the brewing mechanism.

The invention relates to a beverage preparation machine (20) for providing a pressurized liquid to a dose of beverage ingredients (10) such as a coffee capsule, the machine comprising a pressurizing liquid chamber (1) designed for being filled with a predefined amount of liquid upon operation of a liquid pump (2) connected to a liquid reservoir (3) of the machine, a potential energy accumulator (4) that is associated to the pressurizing liquid chamber (1) and which is designed for being brought into a charged position upon filling of the pressurizing liquid chamber (1), a brewing chamber (5) for receiving the dose of beverage ingredients (10) and which is designed for being selectively brought in fluid communication with the pressurizing liquid chamber (1), the machine (20) further comprising flow control means (6a,6b) designed for regulating the amount of liquid conveyed from the liquid pump (2) into the pressurizing liquid chamber (1) depending on an operating position of the potential energy accumulator (4) and/or on the pressure of liquid in the pressurizing chamber (1).
CONTROLLING BREWING PARAMETERS OF SINGLE-SERVE BEVERAGE SYSTEM
A beverage brewing system works with a pod to brew low, medium and high pressure beverages in hot and/or cold format such as coffee and espresso served hot or over ice. The beverage ingredient may be packed within a filter which is enclosed by a container to hermetically seal the filter. The filter has a predetermined number and sized holes to control the pressure within the filter to brew low, medium, and high pressure beverages. The filter is releasably sealed to the container where separating the filter from the container forms a gap to allow the beverage formed within the pod to drain via the gap and directly pour into a mug.

A containment vessel (1) with integrated infusion capability for infusing a solid substance with a liquid. The containment vessel (1) includes a main containment body (3), a dispensing assembly (5), an infusion assembly (9), a transmission assembly (15), and an actuating assembly (17), the actuating assembly (17) being operatively connectable to the transmission assembly (15) for displacing one of inner and outer infusion components (11,13) with respect to the other via the transmission assembly (15), so as to in turn selectively operate the infusion assembly (9) between active and inactive modes, the actuating assembly (17) being manually operated and having at least one actuating component (17a), such an actuating ring (27), for example, being provided about a peripheral surface of the containment vessel (1).

A method and apparatus provides a coffee beverage having a reduced terpene content, where a brew chamber has a brew area A is provided and a volume of water is provided to flow through the coffee grounds in the brew chamber and out of the brew chamber to provide a coffee beverage, and where the flow rate of water provided through coffee grounds in the brew chamber is F and the ratio of F/A is about 0.15 cm/s or less.
DISPENSER WITH PARALLEL DISPENSING PATHS
A beverage preparation machine (1) has: a water circuit (12,13) for guiding water (2,2,2) from a source (11); and a mixing unit (20) fluidically connected to the water circuit (12,13) and to a beverage outlet (23) for dispensing to a consumer cup or mug (5) a beverage (3) formed in the mixing unit (20). The mixing unit (20) has a first module (21) and a second module (22) that are relatively movable from: a distant configuration for inserting an ingredient between the first and second modules (21,22); to a proximate position for combining such ingredient with water (2) supplied by the water circuit (12,13) so as to form the beverage (3). The machine has: a further unit (30) fluidically connected to the water circuit (12,13) and to an outlet (33) for dispensing to a consumer cup or mug water (2) supplied by the water circuit (12,13); and a water directing device (14) fluidically connected to the water circuit (12,13), to the mixing unit (20) and to the further unit (30). The directing device (14) has one or more valves (141,142;143,144) that is/are actuated by the relatively moving first and/or second modules (21,22) and that can be opened and closed for controlling a flow of water (2,2,2) from the water circuit (12,13) selectively to the mixing unit (20) or to the further unit (30).
Beverage machine
The present invention relates to a beverage machine. The beverage machine comprises a brewing unit (10) with (i) a main body (12) defining a hollow (14) for receiving a portable capsule holder (18) and (ii) a lid (20) connected to the main body (12) for opening and closing the hollow (14). The beverage machine comprises a portable capsule holder (18) that is configured to receive a capsule (50) which encapsulates an extractable food product. The brewing unit (10) and the portable capsule holder (18) cooperate together in a manner that is regarding the liquid flow similar as a fountain.
