A hollow cylinder (102) contains hot water for making a hot beverage, for example, coffee. The cylinder (102) has an inner wall (102a) extending along an axis (104) from an open upper end (102b) to an open lower end (102c) of the cylinder. A perforated closure (106) is releasably securable to the cylinder (102) to hold the coffee at the lower end (102c). A cap (110) carries a plunger (112) configured and arranged for sealing engagement with the inner wall (102a) of the cylinder (102). In use, the cap (110) is rotatable on the cylinder (102) about the axis (104) and is connected to the cylinder (102) by a helical formation. Rotation of the cap (110) on the cylinder (102) drives the plunger (112) towards the lower end (102c) of the cylinder (102) to press the hot water through the perforated closure (106) and the coffee held thereon and then into the vessel (118).

An apparatus for filling the basket of a portafilter of an espresso machine with a predetermined dose of coffee grounds and for pressing it within the portafilter is disclosed. A support device for supporting the portafilter projects out of a front wall of the espresso machine. The portafilter is placed on the support device in a first coffee-dispensing position below a coffee grounds dispenser, then moved to a second position below a pressing device. In the second position, a pestle of the pressing device is moved vertically toward the dose of coffee contained in a basket of the portafilter to compress the coffee grounds a desired amount, and is then removed vertically away from the basket of the portafilter containing the pressed coffee dose.

An integrated device including a vessel, a gas reservoir, a pressure regulation device, a primary filter, and a tap assembly. The vessel is configured to contain a beverage. The gas reservoir is configured to supply pressurized gas within the vessel. The pressure regulation device is configured to maintain an infusing pressure within the vessel and also a dispensing pressure within the vessel. The primary filter is configured to hold solid brewing media, to fit inside the vessel, and to be removable from the vessel. The tap assembly is configured to dispense the beverage from the vessel. Methods are also disclosed.

A brewer system includes a reservoir, a steeping chamber movable relative to the reservoir and positioned over a mouth of the reservoir, and a filter tape positioned between the chamber and the reservoir. Brewing substance and water are added to the chamber and can be controllably agitated using a controllable gas pump coupled to the reservoir to form a brewed beverage. The brewed beverage can be drawn through the filter tape and into the reservoir through the mouth under the influence of a controllable vacuum pump coupled to and controllably communicating with the reservoir.

A coffee machine includes a filter holder intended to contain at least one coffee dose, a dispensing unit with dispensing nozzles intended to send a flow of hot water on the coffee dose, a water system provided with a pump to supply pressurized water towards the dispensing nozzles, a heater to heat the water to be supplied to the dispensing nozzles, a dispensing valve to enable/disable the supply of hot water towards the dispensing nozzles, and a pre-infusion valve disposed upstream the dispensing valve. The pre-infusion valve is set in such a way as to operate in pulsed mode for a pre-infusion time of at least 4 seconds, with opening and closing time equal to or lower than 1 second.

A dispensing group for an espresso coffee machine is described. The group comprises: a coffee boiler configured to contain pressurized hot water; a supply duct for feeding hot water under pressure towards a puck of coffee powder; and a filter-holder support comprising guides (30) which form at least one sliding surface for slidably supporting a filter holder, wherein said filter-holder support is rotatable between a first position for inserting the filter holder and a second dispensing position and wherein said dispensing group comprises a mechanical locking device for locking the filter-holder support in the second dispensing position.

A filter capsule for secondary filtration of extracted coffee is provided, where the filter capsule comprises a housing and at least one filter element or consists thereof. The housing comprises a bottom, at least one side wall and at least one cover or consists thereof, the at least one filter element being disposed in an interior space of the housing. Coffee extracted on a brewing strainer can be subjected to a secondary filtration so that suspended particles and emulsified oils of a specific size are separated from the coffee by the filter element of the filter capsule and a new type of coffee is produced. The use of the filter capsule for secondary filtration of coffee is therefore proposed.

An espresso coffee machine comprising a main boiler, a dispensing group, a secondary boiler provided, a main water inlet circuit, where the main water inlet circuit has a pump that applies a predetermined pressure value to the water, the machine further including a dispensing valve, an air inlet circuit hydraulically connected to the brewing chamber of each dispensing group, a compressor to inject air at a predefined pressure value in the brewing chamber of each dispensing group and at least one heating element arranged to inject air at a predetermined temperature value into the brewing chamber of each dispensing group.

A filter holder for espresso machines comprising a basket-shaped body with a closed bottom and an open upper end, delimited by a frustoconical side wall, made of a metal material, a filter, which is suitable for containing a predetermined dose of coffee grounds, placed within the basket-shaped body, at least one channel extending out of the bottom of the basket-shaped body, for discharging the beverage formed in the filter, the side wall of said basket-shaped body having coupling means for the filter holder to be positioned at the hot water delivery point of the machine for forming the beverage, as well as a rod-shaped handle, radially connected to a point of the side wall of the basket-shaped body.

An intermediate element is provided between said handle and the side wall of the basket-shaped body, for accommodating angular deflection of said rod-shaped handle relative to the side wall of the basket-shaped body.
