Apparatus and method for preparing a coffee beverage
A coffee brewer contains a brewing unit in which coffee grounds having been poured in are compressed by a plunger driven by an actuator. Heated water flows through the compressed coffee grounds. A control device controls the actuator in accordance with signals of an angle of rotation sensor. The control device first moves the plunger against a stop in an ejection position to calibrate the sensor, then moves the plunger by a predetermined distance in a downwards direction into a pouring-in position. Afterwards the control device moves the plunger by a second distance into the brewing position, a length of the predetermined distance and the second distance corresponds to a number of pulses of the sensor which are stored in the memory. The control device subsequently moves the plunger by a third distance back into the ejection position in which the coffee grounds are removed from the plunger.

A machine for preparing hot beverages, including a beverage outlet for dispensing a prepared hot beverage, an instantaneous water heater for heating water during preparation of the hot beverage, a flow meter for determining the volume flow of water flowing through the instantaneous water heater, and a drainage valve arranged downstream of the instantaneous water heater in the direction of flow formed as a controlled directional control valve via which water flowing through the instantaneous water heater can be conducted to a waste water line or collection container instead towards the beverage outlet. A control device is provided having a scale detection function for analyzing a scaling level of the instantaneous water heater using measured values of the flow meter. This control device, during scaling level analysis, switches the drainage valve to a switched position in which the fluid flow is conducted from the instantaneous water heater directly to the waste water line or collection container.

An appliance (10) to heat a liquid, the appliance (10) including: a hollow body (16) providing a chamber (23) to receive the liquid, the body (16) having a bottom wall (17) and a side wall (18) extending upwardly from the bottom wall (17) so as to surround the chamber (23); an electrical resistance heater (27) fixed to the body (16) and to which electric power is delivered so that the heater (27) has a raised temperature to heat the liquid contained in the chamber (23); a switch (29), adjacent the heater (27), that receives electric power and delivers electric power to the heater (27), the switch (29) being mounted in the body (16) and located so that heat generated by the switch (29) can be delivered to the liquid via conduction; and wherein the switch (29) is mounted on the body (16) to inhibit heat transfer by conduction between the heater (27) and switch (29).

A mixing apparatus is configured to efficiently input noodles coated with an additive to a receiving tray, with no need to perform weighing again after the noodles are input to the receiving tray. The mixing apparatus includes at least two hoppers that each house falling noodles and that allows the noodles to fall through rotation of the hoppers. A supply device supplies a sauce to the noodles in the hoppers, and the two hoppers are spaced from one another in the falling direction.
