BIOSENSOR FOR SINGLE CELL ANALYSIS
A biosensor for single cell analysis is disclosed. The biosensor includes a substrate, an array of electrodes, and a passivation layer. The substrate includes a roughened surface, where the array of electrodes is patterned on the roughened surface. Each electrode includes a distal tip and a proximal end. The passivation layer is deposited on top of the biosensor and includes a microwell around the distal tip of an electrode. A single cell is trapped within the microwell and adhered onto the distal tip of the electrode for further single cell analysis.

A golf club head having a laser-generated features to create contrast on the club face of the golf club head. The club face includes a central region, a toe region, and a heel region. The central region includes a first plurality of laser-generated features that provide a height-intersection coverage of the central region, a width-intersection coverage of the central region, and a surface-area coverage of the central region. The toe region includes a second plurality of laser-generated features that provide a height-intersection coverage of the toe region, a width-intersection coverage of the toe region, and a surface-area coverage of the toe region. METHOD OF PRODUCING BLADES OR BLADE ARRANGEMENTS OF A TURBOMACHINE WITH EROSION PROTECTION LAYERS AND CORRESPONDINGLY PRODUCED COMPONENT
The present invention relates to a method for producing a blade or blade arrangement of a turbomachine, which features the following steps: producing a blade (4) from at least one blade material, machining the blade in at least one region of the blade by a surface machining process, cleaning the surface of the blade depositing an erosion protection coating (10) of at least two layers of different hardness by physical vapor deposition in the at least one region, machining the erosion protection coating (10) by a coating smoothing process in order to establish a defined surface roughness.
Furthermore, the invention relates to correspondingly produced blades or blade arrangements.
FERROELECTRIC ELEMENT AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING FERROELECTRIC ELEMENT
A method of manufacturing a ferroelectric element includes forming an insulating film on one side of a metal substrate by an electron beam (EB) vapor deposition method or a sputtering method; forming a metal film on the insulating film by the sputtering method; and forming a ferroelectric film on the metal film by a sol-gel method. The metal substrate includes iron (Fe) and nickel (Ni), and a content of the nickel (Ni) is greater than or equal to 30% and less than or equal to 40%.
Fabrication of electrochromic devices
Electrochromic devices and methods may employ the addition of a defect-mitigating insulating layer which prevents electronically conducting layers and/or electrochromically active layers from contacting layers of the opposite polarity and creating a short circuit in regions where defects form. In some embodiments, an encapsulating layer is provided to encapsulate particles and prevent them from ejecting from the device stack and risking a short circuit when subsequent layers are deposited. The insulating layer may have an electronic resistivity of between about 1 and 10.sup.8 Ohm-cm. In some embodiments, the insulating layer contains one or more of the following metal oxides: aluminum oxide, zinc oxide, tin oxide, silicon aluminum oxide, cerium oxide, tungsten oxide, nickel tungsten oxide, and oxidized indium tin oxide. Carbides, nitrides, oxynitrides, and oxycarbides may also be used.

A coated metallic substrate including at least a first coating of aluminum, such first coating having a thickness below 5 μm and being directly topped by a second coating including from 0.5 to 5.9% by weight of magnesium, the balance being zinc.

A method of making a light weight housing for an internal component is provided. The method including the steps of: forming a first metallic foam core into a desired configuration; forming a second metallic foam core into a desired configuration; inserting an internal component into the first metallic foam core; placing the second metallic foam adjacent to the first metallic core in order to secure the internal component between the first metallic foam core and the second metallic foam core; and applying an external metallic shell to an exterior surface of the first metallic foam core and the second metallic foam core.
LIGHT WEIGHT HOUSING FOR INTERNAL COMPONENT AND METHOD OF MAKING
A method of making a light weight component is provided. The method including the steps of: forming a metallic foam core into a desired configuration; inserting a pre-machined component into an opening in the metallic foam core; applying an external metallic shell to an exterior surface of the metallic foam core after it has been formed into the desired configuration and after the pre-machined component has been inserted into the metallic foam core; introducing an acid into an internal cavity defined by the external metallic shell; dissolving the metallic foam core; and removing the dissolved metallic foam core from the internal cavity, wherein the component and the external metallic shell are resistant to the acid.
