COATED CUTTING TOOL
The coated cutting tool comprises a substrate and a coating layer formed on a surface of the substrate, the coating layer comprises an alternating laminate structure in which two or more first layers and two or more second layers are alternately laminated, the first layer is a compound layer containing Ti(C.sub.aN.sub.1-a), the second layer is a compound layer containing (Ti.sub.xAl.sub.1-x)(C.sub.yN.sub.1-y), an average thickness per layer of each of the first layers and the second layers in the alternating laminate structure is 3 nm or more and 300 nm or less, and an average thickness of the alternating laminate structure is 1.0 μm or more and 8.0 μm or less.
Silicon oxycarbide environmental barrier coating
An article includes a ceramic-based substrate and a barrier layer on the ceramic-based substrate. The barrier layer includes a matrix of barium-magnesium alumino-silicate or SiO.sub.2, a dispersion of silicon oxycarbide particles in the matrix, and a dispersion of particles, of the other of barium-magnesium alumino-silicate or SiO.sub.2, in the matrix.
SLIDING MEMBER, MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF, AND COATING FILM
To provide a sliding member comprising a coating film exhibiting constant and stable chipping resistance and wear resistance and excellent in peeling resistance (adhesion), and the coating film thereof. The above-described problem is solved by a sliding member (10) comprising a coating film (1) on a sliding surface (16) on a base material (11). The coating film (1) has, when a cross section thereof is observed by a bright-field TEM image, a total thickness within a range of 1 μm to 50 μm, in repeating units including black hard carbon layers (B), relatively shown in black, and white hard carbon layers (W), relatively shown in white, and laminated in a thickness direction (Y). In the black hard carbon layer (B) and the white hard carbon layer (W) adjacent to each other, the white hard carbon layer (W) has higher hardness and a larger [sp.sup.2/(sp.sup.2+sp.sup.3)] ratio than the black hard carbon layer (B).
CUTTING TOOL
A cutting tool includes a substrate and a coated film arranged on the substrate. The coated film includes a first layer. The first layer includes a plurality of crystal grains. The crystal grains are composed of Al.sub.xTi.sub.1−xC.sub.yN.sub.1−y, wherein x is more than 0.65 and less than 0.95, and y is not less than 0 and less than 0.1. In a first region, the crystal grains have an average aspect ratio of not more than 3.0. In a second region, the crystal grains have an average aspect ratio of more than 3.0 and not more than 10.0. The crystal grains include crystal grains having a cubic crystal structure. The first layer has a ratio of an area occupied by the crystal grains having a cubic crystal structure of not less than 90%. The first layer has a thickness of not less than 2 m and not more than 20 m.

A cutting tool incudes a substrate and a coating that coats a surface of the substrate, the coating including a multilayer structure layer composed of at least one layer A and at least one layer B alternately deposited from a side closer to the substrate toward a side closer to a surface, the layer A having an average composition of Al.sub.xCr.sub.(1-x)N, the layer B being composed of Ti.sub.yAl.sub.zSi.sub.(1-y-z)N, the layer A being composed of a domain region and a matrix region, the domain region having a composition ratio of Cr larger than that of Cr of the matrix region, wherein x has a range of 0.5≤x≤0.8, y has a range of 0.5≤y<0.71, z has a range of 0.29≤z<0.5, and 1−y−z has a range of 0<1−y−z≤0.1.
Coated razor blades comprising graphene
A hard coating for a substrate or portion of a razor blade wherein a main layer of the hard coating includes graphene and/or any combination of derivatives thereof. The graphene may be deposited on the substrate or portion of the razor blade using plasma assisted chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) or similar process.
Coated tool, and cutting tool comprising same
A coated tool of the present disclosure is provided with a base member and a coating layer located on a surface of the base member. The coating layer includes a TiCNO layer and an Al.sub.2O.sub.3 layer. The Al.sub.2O.sub.3 layer is located in contact with the TiCNO layer at a position farther from the base member than the TiCNO layer is. The TiCNO layer includes a composite protrusion including a first protrusion that projects toward the Al.sub.2O.sub.3 layer, a second protrusion that projects from the first protrusion in a direction intersecting a direction in which the first protrusion projects, and a third protrusion that projects from the second protrusion in a direction intersecting the direction in which the second protrusion projects.
Coated cutting tool and production method therefor
Provided is a coated cutting tool having a base material side single layer portion and a laminated portion provided as a hard coating in order from a base material side. The base material side single layer portion is formed of a nitride-based hard coating in which a proportion of Al is highest among metal (including metalloid) elements, a sum of Al and Cr in a content ratio (atomic ratio) is 0.9 or more, and at least B is contained. In the laminated portion, a nitride-based a layer in which a proportion of Ti is highest among metal (including metalloid) elements and at least B is contained, and a nitride-based b layer in which a proportion of Al is highest among metal (including metalloid) elements and at least Cr and B are contained are alternately laminated.
SUBSTRATE WITH A MOLYBDENUM NITRIDE LAYER SYSTEM, AND COATING METHOD FOR PRODUCING A LAYER SYSTEM
A substrate having a multilayer coating system in the form of a surface coating, which has an outer cover layer comprising amorphous carbon, and a coating process for producing a substrate. At least a first Mo.sub.aN.sub.x support layer is provided between the substrate and the cover layer, which support layer has a nitrogen content x, referred to an Mo content a, which is in the range of 25 at %≤x≤55 at %, with x+a=100 at %.
SURFACE-COATED CUTTING TOOL
A surface-coated cutting tool comprises a tool substrate comprising a cBN sinter and a hard coating layer including a lower sublayer α and an upper sublayer β on the surface of the cutting edge; wherein α satisfies (Al.sub.1-xTi.sub.x)N (0.40≤x≤0.60); β satisfies (Al.sub.1-y-zTi.sub.yB.sub.z)N (0.40≤y≤0.60 and 0.01≤z≤0.10); in the sublayer β, the variation in the concentration of the B component is repeated; the average Bmaxav of the maxima in the concentration of the B component satisfies z<Bmaxav≤2.0×z, and the average Bminav of the minima in the concentration of the B component satisfies 0≤Bminav<z; and the average thickness tα of α and the average thickness tβ of β satisfy expression: 2.0≤<tβ/tα≤6.0; and the residual stress σ of the overall hard coating layer satisfies −2.0 GPa≤σ≤−0.5 GPa.
