METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PRODUCING SYNTHESIS GAS WITH CARBON DIOXIDE RETURN
A method and to a device for producing a synthesis gas, which contains carbon monoxide and hydrogen, wherein natural gas having a first carbon dioxide partial pressure (CO.sub.2 pressure) is provided and is processed inter alia by means of a pressure increase to form a natural gas input for a thermochemical conversion, in which a synthesis raw gas having a second CO.sub.2 pressure greater than the first CO.sub.2 pressure is produced, from which synthesis raw gas at least carbon dioxide is subsequently separated in order to obtain the synthesis gas and carbon dioxide, at least some of which is returned and is used in the thermochemical conversion of the natural gas input. To separate carbon dioxide, the synthesis raw gas is conducted across the one membrane on the retentate side, which membrane is permeable to carbon dioxide and is flushed on the permeate side by the provided natural gas.
Methods for production of hydrogen
Synthesis gas containing nitrogen as the majority component is processed to increase the hydrogen to carbon dioxide ratio. Nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and other contaminants are subsequently removed by a purification unit to produce a purified hydrogen gas stream. A recycle stream within the purification unit helps achieve a hydrogen purity greater than 99.9 percent, and hydrogen recovery greater than 99 percent.
METHOD AND REACTOR FOR PRODUCING SYNTHESIS GAS FROM A CARBON AND HYDROGEN SOURCE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN OXY FLAME
The technology relates to a method of producing synthesis gas comprising carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrogen (H.sub.2), wherein the synthesis gas is produced by a reduction reaction of a first flow comprising a carbon source and an excess of hydrogen in contact with an Oxy-flame. The hydrogen comes from a reducing stream, a first portion of which ends up in the first flow, and a second part of which is used to generate the Oxy-flame by combustion of the hydrogen in the presence of a second flow comprising oxygen (O.sub.2), the second flow coming from an oxidizing stream. The first flow and the second flow are at a distance from each other such that the Oxy-flame supports the reaction between the carbon source and the hydrogen. A reactor, which can have different configurations, is also proposed for implementing the method.
PROCESS AND PLANT FOR PRODUCING CO-RICH SYNTHESIS GAS BY PARTIAL OXIDATION
Proposed are a process and a plant for producing a hydrogen- and carbon oxides-containing synthesis gas by partial noncatalytic oxidation of a fluid or fluidizable carbon-containing input stream of fossil origin as a first input stream in the presence of an oxygen-containing oxidant and optionally a moderator to obtain a CO-rich raw synthesis gas. According to the invention a second input stream including a pyrolysis oil obtained from biomass is reacted simultaneously with the first input stream in the noncatalytic partial oxidation.
METHOD FOR SYNGAS SEPARATION AT HYDROGEN PRODUCING FACILITIES FOR CARBON CAPTURE AND STORAGE
Methods and systems for gas separation of syngas applying differences in water solubilities of syngas components, the method including producing a product gas comprising hydrogen and carbon dioxide from a hydrocarbon fuel source; separating hydrogen from the product gas to create a hydrogen product stream and a byproduct stream by solubilizing components in water that are more soluble in water than hydrogen; injecting the byproduct stream into a reservoir containing mafic rock; and allowing components of the byproduct stream to react in situ with components of the mafic rock to precipitate and store components of the byproduct stream in the reservoir.
A METHOD FOR THE SUPPRESSION OF SOOT FORMATION IN AN ATR OR POX REACTOR
A method for the suppression of soot formation during the partial oxidation of a hydrocarbon-containing gaseous feed, in the presence of steam and in an ATR reactor or in a POX reactor, the method comprising the addition of gaseous carbon dioxide to the hydrocarbon-containing gaseous feed before entry into the reactor. A method for determining a minimum steam to carbon ratio required for scot-free operation is also disclosed.
INTEGRATED BIOMASS GASIFICATION AND ELECTROLYSIS
Systems and methods are provided for integration of electrolysis with biomass gasification to generate synthesis gas that can be used for production of renewable fuels and/or other hydrocarbonaceous compounds. The hydrocarbonaceous compounds can include compounds formed by chemical synthesis, such as alkanes formed by a Fischer-Tropsch process or methanol formed by a methanol synthesis process; or the hydrocarbonaceous compounds can include compounds formed by fermentation, such as alcohols formed by micro-organisms that use the synthesis gas as an input feed.
PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF SYNGAS
A process for the production of syngas, comprising the steps of generating hydrogen and/or carbon monoxide from a hydrocarbon gas by contacting said hydrocarbon gas with a metal oxide in a first non-stoichiometric state MxOy-α such as to reduce said metal oxide in a first non-stoichiometric state MxOy-α towards a second non-stoichiometric state MxOy-β; generating hydrogen and/or carbon monoxide from a regenerating gas by contacting the metal oxide in the second non-stoichiometric state MxOy-β with said regenerating gas such as to oxidize the metal oxide in the second non-stoichiometric state MxOy-β towards the first non-stoichiometric state MxOy-α; characterized in that the β>α and α>0 and β<y.
TWO-STAGE GASIFIER AND GASIFICATION PROCESS WITH FEEDSTOCK FLEXIBILITY
A gasification process may include (a) introducing a liquid hydrocarbon feedstock and at least one of a dry feedstock or a first slurried feedstock into a reactor lower section, wherein the at least one dry feedstock or first slurried feedstock is introduced through two primary feed nozzles while the liquid hydrocarbon feedstock is introduced through at least two secondary feed nozzles; (b) partially combusting the feedstocks in the reactor lower section with a gas stream comprising an oxygen-containing gas or steam to evolve heat and form products comprising hot synthesis gas; (c) passing said hot synthesis gas from step (b) upward into a reactor upper section; (d) and introducing a second slurried feedstock into said reactor upper section, whereby heat from said hot synthesis gas supports reaction of the second slurried feedstock by pyrolysis and gasification reactions.
