WASTE TREATMENT SYSTEM AND METHOD
A water treatment system includes a water tank, a water filtration media, and an ozone gas source. A control system operates a service mode of the water treatment system during which an external water source is filtered by the filtration media. The control system also operates a regeneration mode of the water treatment system for regenerating the filtration media. The regeneration mode includes a first backwash mode to backwash the filtration media with the external water source. The regeneration mode includes a draw mode subsequent to the first backwash mode to draw ozone into the water tank and into contact with the filtration media. The regeneration mode includes a second backwash mode subsequent to the draw mode to expel ozone from the water tank and the filtration media prior to switching the system back into the service mode for filtration of the water source with the regenerated filtration media.
Method for the synthesis of negatively charged manganese feroxyhyte for the selective removal of mercury from water
The present invention refers to the method for synthesis an absorbent material consisting of a phase of tetravalent manganese feroxyhyte (δ-Fe.sub.(1-x)Mn.sub.xOOH) with a negatively charged grain surface in which a percentage of iron has been isomorphically substituted by manganese atoms at 0.05-25%. Its' production is carried out in two continuous flow stirred-tank reactors arranged in serial configuration, where mild acidic conditions (pH 5-6) prevail in the first reactor and mild alkaline conditions (pH 9-10) together with high redox potential (600-700 mV) in the second reactor. The material can be used to uptake mercury, as well as other heavy metals from both water and hot gas streams. Specifically, the adsorption capacity is determined by the magnitude of the negative surface charge and the isoelectric point that can be both adjusted by the synthesis process parameters.
METHOD FOR REMOVING A POLLUTANT FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTION WITH A CROSSLINKED POLYMER
A crosslinked resin made up of polymerized units of a linear polyamine with at least 3 primary and/or secondary amine functionalities and a bisacrylamide. The crosslinked polymers are porous spherical particles with a BET surface area in the range of 50-120 m.sup.2/g. A method of the synthesizing the crosslinked polymer is specified. A method for using the crosslinked resin as an adsorbent material in removing pollutants including organic dyes (e.g. Congo red, Rhodamine B) and heavy metals from an aqueous solution or an industrial wastewater sample is also described.
Process for purification of diphenyl carbonate for the manufacturing of high quality polycarbonate
A process for purifying a diaryl carbonate, comprises introducing an aqueous stream to a diaryl carbonate stream that comprises a metal contaminant, wherein the aqueous stream reacts with the metal contaminant to form a precipitate; wherein introducing the aqueous stream to the diaryl carbonate stream results in introducing 100 to 10,000 ppm water based on the total composition of the diaryl carbonate stream and the aqueous stream; removing the precipitate via one or both of a separation column and a filter to result in a purified diaryl carbonate.
Efficient and Regenerable Nano Manganese Remover, and Preparation Method and Application Thereof
The present disclosure discloses an efficient and regenerable nano manganese remover, and a method for preparing same and application thereof, belonging to the technical field of wastewater treatment and reuse. The manganese remover of the present disclosure includes Fe.sub.3O.sub.4, RGO, SiO.sub.2 and EDTA. The Fe.sub.3O.sub.4 nanoparticles are supported on the surface of the RGO, the SiO.sub.2 coats the Fe.sub.3O.sub.4, and the EDTA is grafted on the SiO.sub.2. First, Fe.sub.3O.sub.4-RGO is prepared. Then, a TEOS-ethanol solution is dropwise added, and the resulting mixture is allowed to react to obtain Fe.sub.3O.sub.4@SiO.sub.2-RGO composite particles. Finally, an EDTA-water solution is dropwise added to obtain the manganese remover. The manganese remover prepared in the present disclosure is magnetic, and the preparation process is simple and easy for industrial production. The nano manganese remover can quickly remove manganese in manganese-containing wastewater. A small amount of the manganese remover can achieve a large adsorption capacity. Further, the nano manganese remover can be separated from the manganese-containing wastewater quickly, thereby avoiding secondary pollution to the system.
