Method for cutting plate-like glass, and cutting device therefor
A full body of a glass sheet (G) is cut by forming an initial crack (6a) on a preset cutting line (5) of the glass sheet (G) that is supported by a support member (2 (8)) from a back surface side of the glass sheet (G), followed by propagating the initial crack (6a) while passing through the glass sheet from a front surface to the back surface thereof due to a stress generated through localized heating along the preset cutting line (5) and cooling of a heated region that is formed through the localized heating, the glass sheet (G) being supported by the support member (2 (8)) from the back surface side through an intermediation of an elastic sheet (E) having low thermal conductivity.
Standalone sulfide based lithium ion-conducting glass solid electrolyte and associated structures, cells and methods
A standalone lithium ion-conductive solid electrolyte including a freestanding inorganic vitreous sheet of sulfide-based lithium ion conducting glass is capable of high performance in a lithium metal battery by providing a high degree of lithium ion conductivity while being highly resistant to the initiation and/or propagation of lithium dendrites. Such an electrolyte is also itself manufacturable, and readily adaptable for battery cell and cell component manufacture, in a cost-effective, scalable manner.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING GLASS ROLL
Provided is a method of producing a glass roll including: a conveying step of conveying a glass film (G) along a longitudinal direction thereof; a cutting step of irradiating the glass film (G) with a laser beam (L) from a laser irradiation apparatus (19) while conveying the glass film (G) by the conveying step, to thereby separate the glass film (G) into a non-product portion (Gc) and a product portion (Gd); and a take-up step of taking up the product portion (Gd) into a roll shape, to thereby form a glass roll (R). The cutting step includes a step of winding a thread-like peeled material (Ge) generated from an end portion of the product portion (Gd) in a width direction around a rod-shaped collecting member (23), and leading the wound thread-like peeled material (Ge) in a predetermined conveying direction (PX) by a leading device (24).
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING BELT-SHAPED GLASS AND DEVICE FOR MANUFACTURING BELT-SHAPED GLASS
A manufacturing method for a band-shaped glass includes a forming step, which forms a band-shaped glass, an annealing step, which performs an annealing treatment on the band-shaped glass, a cooling step, which cools the annealed band-shaped glass, a direction-changing step, which changes a feeding direction of the cooled band-shaped glass from a longitudinal direction to a horizontal direction, and a horizontal conveying step, which conveys the band-shaped glass in the horizontal direction while supporting the band-shaped glass at a horizontal conveyance part. In the horizontal conveying step, the band-shaped glass is conveyed in the horizontal direction while a first propulsion for driving the conveyance in the horizontal direction is provided at both sides in the width direction of the band-shaped glass by the horizontal conveyance part, the first propulsion being larger than a second propulsion provided at a center in the width direction of the band-shaped glass.
Methods and systems for processing of glass ribbon
A method and apparatus for processing glass comprising a forming apparatus in a first processing zone, the forming apparatus configured to form a glass ribbon having a first direction of travel in the first processing zone. The apparatus also includes a first cutting apparatus in a second processing zone, the first cutting apparatus configured to separate one or more portions of the glass ribbon, the glass ribbon having a second direction of travel. The apparatus includes a first buffer zone between the first processing zone and the second processing zone in which the glass ribbon is supported in a first catenary between two, spaced-apart payoff positions. The second direction of travel in the second processing zone can be orthogonal to the first direction of travel in the first processing zone.
VERSATILE GLASS FORMING AND PROCESSING SYSTEM WITH 3-D VACUUM FORMING CAPABILITY
Various embodiments of methods and related equipment are provided, comprising: delivering a molten material into a forming and sizing assembly, processing the molten glass via the at least one pair of forming and sizing rollers to form a glass ribbon having a width and a thickness; imparting, at least one pinch region into the cross-sectional thickness of the glass ribbon to provide a pinched glass ribbon, rolling a pressure roller over the pinched glass ribbon on the sequentially spaced mold surfaces to impart a characteristic into the pinched glass ribbon to form a glass ribbon product.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROCESSING A GLASS RIBBON
Systems and methods for automated, sequential processing of a continuous glass ribbon by conveying the glass ribbon in a ribbon travel direction, forming a score line in the glass ribbon, separating a glass sheet from the glass ribbon at the score line while supporting the glass sheet with a transfer device, lowering the glass sheet onto a conveyor, and conveying the glass sheet in a sheet travel direction differing from the ribbon travel direction. By transferring and then conveying the glass sheet in a direction differing from the ribbon travel direction (e.g., a 90 degree turn) immediately after glass sheet separation, the systems and method of the present disclosure are conducive to streamlined production of glass sheets utilizing a unique production floor footprint.
Glass film production method
A conveying device (14) for a glass film (G) includes: a first support (21) configured to support a first portion (Gc) of the glass film (G) having been cut; a second support (22) configured to support a second portion (Gd) of the glass film (G) having been cut; and an opening (23) formed at a position between the first support (21) and the second support (22) and below a laser irradiation apparatus (19). A cutting step for the glass film (G) includes deforming the glass film (G) so as to be convex downward through the opening (23), and radiating a laser beam (LB) from the laser irradiation apparatus (19) to a position which is within a range of the opening (23), and which is prevented from coinciding with a top (GT) of the glass film (G).
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR ALIGNING SCORING NEEDLES AND FOR SCORING GLASS SUBSTRATES
A method is provided for aligning scoring tools and for scoring glass, in particular thin glass, along predetermined scoring lines in preparation for breaking along the score. Glass substrates, in particular thin glass substrates, produced by such method are also provided. The method includes the determination of the actual orientation of the cutting edge of the scoring tool and aligning of the cutting edge to a target orientation of the cutting edge.
GLASS ELEMENT WITH CUT EDGE AND METHOD OF PRODUCING SAME
A method is provided for scoring glasses. The method includes the steps of generating a deep crack in the glass along an intended separation line by exerting pressure onto the glass surface using a rigid scoring tool, wherein the scoring tool, by being pressed against the glass surface and due to the advancement force while introducing the deep crack generates a zone of elastic strain in the glass in a direction along the glass surface and perpendicular to the separation line, which extends in an arc in the plane defined by the separation line perpendicular to the glass surface such that one leg of the arc is located close to the contact point of the scoring tool on the glass surface and another leg is located inside the glass. The arc being open towards the advancement/advancement direction of the scoring tool.
