BULLETPROOF PANEL
A bulletproof panel includes: (i) a ceramic plate A; (ii) at least one phenol resin impregnated aramid fabric laminate C having phenol resin impregnated aramid fabrics C1, C2 and C3 which are laminated thereon; and (iii) an epoxy resin impregnated fabric B disposed between the ceramic plate A and the phenol resin impregnated aramid fabric laminate C, and impregnated with an epoxy resin. The phenol resin impregnated aramid fabrics C1, C2 and C3 may be aramid fabrics impregnated with a phenol resin, and aramid fabrics impregnated with a phenol/polyvinyl butyral mixture resin. The ceramic plate A and the phenol resin impregnated aramid fabric laminate C are not delaminated from each other even under a high-temperature environment, and thereby greatly enhancing the bulletproof performance.

A coated article, comprising an article having at least one surface having disposed thereupon an oxidation resistant coating comprising at least two constituents to form a composition, a first constituent comprising at least one thermal expansion component comprising at least about 10% by volume to up to about 99% by volume of the composition, a second constituent comprising at least one oxygen scavenger comprising at least about 1% by volume to up to about 90% by volume of the composition.
FLUID FLOW STRAIGHTENING MEMBER
There is provided a manufacturing method of a fluid flow straightening member having a structure in which disturbance of an air flow does not easily arise. In at least one of outermost layers of an outer circumferential surface or an inner circumferential surface which configures a tubular portion of the fluid flow straightening member, ceramic fibers are oriented in a direction along a plane including a central axis which is surrounded by the tubular portion.
CUTTERS COMPRISING POLYCRYSTALLINE DIAMOND ATTACHED TO A HARD METAL CARBIDE SUBSTRATE
Superabrasive compacts and methods of making superabrasive compacts are disclosed. A superabrasive compact includes a polycrystalline diamond table and a substrate attached to the polycrystalline diamond table. The substrate includes a hard metal carbide and a binder having a compound with a composition of A.sub.xB.sub.yC.sub.z, where A and B are transition metals, where C is carbon, and where 0≦x≦7, 0≦y≦7, x+y=7, and 0≦z≦3.
Shock absorbing member
A shock absorbing member 50 having a ceramic bonded body 15 having: a plurality of first sheet-like members 5 each having a ceramic containing 60 mass % or more of boron carbide and each having a thickness of 0.1 to 50 mm; and a bonding layer arranged between the first sheet-like members 5 adjacent to each other, the bonding layer bonding surfaces to be bonded facing each other of the first sheet-like members adjacent to each other, wherein the bonding layer has a bonding material containing at least one metal selected from the group consisting of aluminum, copper, silver, and gold.
Method for electrospinning of an ultra-high temperature composite structure
A method for forming an ultra-high temperature (UHT) composite structure includes dispensing a polymeric precursor with a spinneret biased at a first DC voltage; forming a plurality of nanofibers from the polymeric precursor; receiving the plurality of nanofibers with a collector biased at a second DC voltage different than the first DC voltage; and changing a direction of movement of the plurality of nanofibers between the spinneret and the collector with a plurality of magnets having a magnetic field by adjusting the magnetic field.
METHOD FOR ASSEMBLING A METAL PART AND A CERAMIC PART, AND ELECTRICAL DEVICE, IN PARTICULAR A CAPACITIVE SENSOR, PRODUCED BY SAID METHOD
A method for the assembly of a metal part and a ceramic part, including the following steps: supplying a solid ceramic part of the alumina type; supplying a solid metal part, the metal being selected from platinum and tantalum, or an alloy including a majority of one of these metals; depositing at least one layer, called interface layer, on at least one of the solid parts, the interface layer containing magnesium oxide; bringing into contact the solid metal part and the solid ceramic part such that the interface layer is located between the solid parts; and hot densification under pressure of the solid parts brought into contact, to create a close bond between the solid parts and form a spinel from the interface layer. An electrical device, such as a capacitive sensor having a sensitive part produced according to the present method, is also provided.
THERMOPLASTIC POLYMER COMPOSITION AND MOLDED ARTICLE
The present invention is a thermoplastic polymer composition which contains 10-120 parts by mass of a polar group-containing polypropylene resin (B) per 100 parts by mass of a thermoplastic elastomer (A) that is a block copolymer having a polymer block containing an aromatic vinyl compound unit and a polymer block composed of a conjugated diene unit having 40% by mole or more of 1,2-bonds and 3,4-bonds in total, or a hydrogenated product of the block copolymer (provided that a thermoplastic polymer composition containing 1 part by mass or more of a polyvinyl acetal resin is excluded). This thermoplastic polymer composition is able to be bonded with a ceramic, a metal or a synthetic resin without requiring a primer treatment, and has excellent flexibility, mechanical characteristics, moldability, heat resistance and storage stability.
BIFURACTING LAYUP FOR AIRFOIL RIB, METHODS OF MANUFACTURE THEREOF AND ARTICLES COMPRISING THE SAME
An airfoil comprises a wall that defines a leading edge and a trailing edge and one or more cavities located within the wall along with a rib that separates the cavities. The rib or the wall comprises a first split ply that comprises a consolidated section and two or more split sections; wherein the split sections emanate from the consolidated section; and where the split sections define the wall and the cavities of the airfoil.
Method for joining substrates
The invention relates to a method of joining substrates. It is the object of the invention in this respect to join substrates of substrate materials together without having to exert an increased effort for a coating with additional coating processes to be carried out and to be able to achieve a good quality of the join connection in so doing. In the method in accordance with the invention a pretreatment of at least one join surface of a substrate to be joined is carried out in low pressure oxygen plasma prior to the actual joining. On the joining, a contact force acts on the substrates to be joined in the range 2 kPa to 5 MPa and in this process a heat treatment is carried out at an elevated temperature of at least 100° C. and at under pressure conditions of a maximum of 10 mbar, preferably <10.sup.−3 mbar.
