Lipid prodrugs of mycophenolic acid and uses thereof

The present invention provides lymphatic system-directing lipid prodrugs, pharmaceutical compositions thereof, methods of producing such prodrugs and compositions, and methods of improving the bioavailability or other properties of a therapeutic agent that comprises part of the lipid prodrug. The present invention also provides methods of treating a disease, disorder, or condition such as those disclosed herein, comprising administering to a patient in need thereof a disclosed lipid prodrug or a pharmaceutical composition thereof.

OPHTHALMIC PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR TREATING OCULAR SURFACE DISEASE

Pharmaceutical compositions are described, the compositions comprising an immunosuppressant (such as mycophenolic acid) in combination with a very low concentration of a corticosteroid (such as betamethasone) that are capable of treating, preventing, and/or alleviating an ocular surface disease. Methods for fabricating the compositions and using them are also described.

DIELS-ALDER REACTION WITH FURANICS TO OBTAIN AROMATICS

The present invention is directed to the preparation of phthalic anhydride compounds and the intermediate phthalide compounds. In particular, the invention is directed to an improved bio-based route from furanic compounds to phthalic anhydride compounds by reacting furfuryl alcohol (i.e. 2-hydroxymethylfuran) or an analogue thereof having a nucleophilic atom on the 2-methyl, with a dienophile comprising an α,β-unsaturated carbonyl comprising an α′-leaving group. The inventions further involved preparation of phthalic anhydride compounds, phthalic acid compounds and reduction products of the intermediate phthalide compounds.

a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, or solvate thereof, wherein X.sub.1, Y, R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4, and R.sub.5 are as defined herein. The compounds are antimicrobial agents that may be used to treat various bacterial and protozoal infections and disorders related to such infections. The invention also relates to pharmaceutical compositions containing the compounds and to methods of treating bacterial and protozoal infections by administering the compounds of formula 1, 2 or 3.

TETRALIN AND TETRAHYDROQUINOLINE COMPOUNDS AS INHIBITORS OF HIF-2ALPHA

Compounds that inhibit HIF-2α, and compositions containing the compound(s) and methods for synthesizing the compounds, are described herein. Also described are the use of such compounds and compositions for the treatment of a diverse array of diseases, disorders, and conditions, including cancer- and immune-related disorders that are mediated, at least in part, by HIF-2α.

METHOD FOR SYNTHESIS OF LOBARIC ACID AND ANALOG THEREOF

The present invention can synthesize lobaric acid and four analogues thereof, which are five phenolic lichen metabolites isolated from an extract of the Antarctic lichen Stereocaulon alpinum and selectively inhibit PTP1B, by a simple, economic and efficient chemical synthesis method.
