Various arrangements for sonar-based vital sign monitoring are presented herein. A mobile device may be determined to be stationary. In response, sonar-based movement sensing can be activated. Sonar data can then be captured in response to activating the sonar-based movement sensing. A breathing pattern can be detected in the sonar data and used to collect respiration data about a user.

Nose sensor

A patient monitor can noninvasively measure a physiological parameter using sensor data from a nose sensor configured to be secured to a nose of the patient. The nose sensor can include an emitter and a detector. The detector is configured to generate a signal when detecting light attenuated by the nose tissue of the patient. An output measurement of the physiological parameter can be determined based on the signals generated by the detector. The nose sensor can include an inner prong and an outer prong to assist the nose sensor in securing to a patient's nose. The detector can be coupled to an inner post of the inner prong and can be configured to secure to an interior or exterior portion of the patient's nose.

Systems, devices, and/or methods for measuring metabolic energy expenditure

Certain exemplary embodiments can provide a system, machine, device, manufacture, circuit, composition of matter, and/or user interface adapted for and/or resulting from, and/or a method and/or machine-readable medium comprising machine-implementable instructions for, activities that can comprise and/or relate to, facilitating determination of the oxygen consumption, carbon dioxide production, respiratory exchange ratio, and/or energy expenditure of a mammal.

Noninvasive tool for assessing hydration status

A tool for predicting that a person is likely to be abnormally hydrated over a future time interval, and in some cases to alert the person or a medical professional to intervene. From a series of physiological measurements, a tissue electrical impedance spectrum curve, which comprises a phase spectrum curve in an embodiment, is determined and changes in the shape of the curve are ascertained. The measurements may be received using one or more sensors worn by the person. In some embodiments, current and historic spectrum curvature are applied to an evolutionary algorithm, such as particle-swarm optimization (PSO) or differential evolution (DE), to determine an inference regarding the persons future hydration status. In one embodiment, a statistical forecast for the next epoch immediately beyond the present one, is determined.

MEDICAL DEVICE WITH A DATA TRANSFER SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ENSURING THE COMPLETENESS OF A DATA STREAM
20220392631 · 2022-12-08 ·

A medical device includes a data transfer system with a transmitter device designed to send a data stream. At least one receiver device receives the data stream, and at least one transfer device transfers the data stream from the transmitter device to the receiver device. The transmitter device divides the data stream into individual data packets with a predetermined format. The receiver device includes a completeness checking mechanism that receives the individual data packets in the predetermined format and ensures the completeness of the data stream.

Connected Medical Device Containing a Liquid Crystalline Polymer Composition having a Low Dielectric Constant

A medical device capable of transmitting a radiofrequency signal to and/or receiving a radiofrequency signal from an external device is provided. The medical device comprises at least one component that contains a polymer composition that exhibits a dielectric constant of about 6 or less at a frequency of 2 GHz, wherein the polymer composition includes a liquid crystalline polymer.

Method for including redundancy in communicating an alert condition from an implanted system to an external system
11521739 · 2022-12-06 · ·

A method, implantable medical system and an external system for communicating an alert signal via a transcutaneous energy transfer system (TETS), with or without the presence of transmission of the alert signal by an alternative wireless communication system, are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method in an implanted medical system includes obtaining the alert signal based on an occurrence of an event, and transmitting the alert signal from the implanted medical device to the external system via a TETS used to transfer power requests to the external system.

Sensor devices having weakened portions and methods for using same

Examples described herein include sensor devices for measuring a parameter of a user. The sensor devices may include a reusable portion (e.g., a sensor). The sensor devices may include one or more weakened portions that may fracture on removal of a portion of the sensor device from the user. Fracturing the weakened portions may expose the reusable portion (e.g., the sensor). Accordingly, the reusable portion may be more readily observed and collected for reuse.

SYSTEMS, DEVICES, AND METHODS FOR SENSOR COMMUNICATIONS

Systems, methods, and devices for improved sensor communications in an analyte monitoring system are provided. In some embodiments, a first remote device can be configured establish a first wireless communication link with a sensor control device. The first remote device can then transmit sensor context information to a second remote device and deactivate the first wireless communication link. Subsequently, the second remote device can establish a second wireless communication link with the sensor control device by using the sensor context information.
