Pressure management methods for determining non-inclusive forces and apparatuses incorporating the same

A method includes determining that a portion of a force applied to a sensor system was applied to a non-inclusive region of the sensor system. An activation area of the non-inclusive region may be determined. A force distribution of the non-inclusive region may be determined. A corresponding force measurement of the non-inclusive region based on the activation area and the force distribution may be calculated.

The present invention is directed generally to a method and apparatus for human brain neuroprotection during surgery. The invention includes use of a heart-lung machine to generate periodic rectangular pulsation of blood flow. The invention uses a non-invasive CA monitor to continuously record transient functions such as dynamic autoregulation functions of a human brain cerebrovascular autoregulation system and process the data to generate an alarm to indicate CA impairment and take steps to minimize the CA impairment event.

Device for measuring hair properties

A device for measuring hair properties has a first part (I) and a second part (II) between which hair (H) is guided. The first part includes a measuring probe (MP), and the second part is arranged for deforming the hair against the measuring probe. While the device moves along the hair, the measuring probe experiences both a friction force resulting from the hair being guided along the measuring probe, and a deformation force resulting from hair deformation by the second part against the measuring probe. The second part includes a pressure element (PB, S) for pressing the hair against the measuring probe. In alternative embodiments, the second part comprises alignment elements (AE) at opposite sides of the measuring probe, and guidance elements (G) for mitigating an influence of an angle at which the device is applied to the hair to the friction force and/or the deformation force.

The durometer includes a main body unit including a movable unit pressed continuously against an object to be measured, a first sensor outputting acceleration information corresponding to an acceleration of movement of a contact part of the object to be measured in contact with the movable unit in a pressing direction, a second sensor outputting reactive force information corresponding to a reactive force at the contact part of the object to be measured in contact with the movable unit, a motor, a crank mechanism driven by the motor and causing the main body unit and the movable unit to perform piston motion, and at least one buffering member disposed on a periphery of the main body unit.

Surgical foot pedal device having force feedback
11617682 · 2023-04-04 · ·

A foot pedal device configured to provide force feedback to an operator during ophthalmic surgery is described. The foot pedal device includes a processor and a memory containing instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to transmit, in response to a movement of a moveable member, a control signal to a surgical console for initiating an action of an ophthalmic surgery tool coupled with the surgical console. The foot pedal device includes a force feedback mechanism configured to selectively apply a resistance force in opposition to the movement of the movable member. The memory contains instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to receive, from the surgical console, a trigger signal, and send a force feedback signal to the force feedback mechanism. The force feedback mechanism is configured to apply the resistance force to the movable member upon receiving the force feedback signal.
