Method of managing a brain stroke
The present invention relates to a medical method of managing a cerebrovascular insult, the method comprising the following steps in this order: a) placing a patient on a patient support unit; b) positioning a mobile tomographic imaging system in a predetermined position relative to the patient support unit with the patient placed on the patient support unit; c) imaging at least part of the patient's brain using an imaging unit of the tomographic imaging system, the imaging comprising in particular generating an image describing the functioning of the patient's blood vessel system; d) determining, in dependence on the result of the imaging, whether the patient support unit should be rotated relative to the tomographic imaging system with the patient placed on the patient support unit so that the patient is free of the imaging unit in order to conduct a medical intervention on the patient's blood vessel system, or whether the patient support unit may remain in its position relative to the tomographic imaging system with the patient placed on the patient support unit.
System for screening skin condition for tissue damage
The present invention relates to a novel approach means of screening various skin surfaces, including hard to reach areas of the human body, as well as more commonly seen areas such as the foot. The present invention can help patients, especially those who are immobile or those with diabetes self-monitor and transmit the skin condition accurately, so that medical providers may assess the risk or presence of skin tissue breakdown. Thus, provision is made for a remote screening device that can be used in telemedicine or home self-monitoring approaches and offers high resolution image, without artifacts or other distortions that might arise from images taken of feet that have been compressed through standing and the like.
Infrared thermography platform for determining vascular health of individuals
A vascular thermography system includes a portable electronic device and a thermal image analyzer in communications therewith. The portable electronic device includes a thermal imager to generate a thermal image of an anatomical area of a patient, a display, a processor configured to display the thermal image on the display, and a transceiver coupled to the processor to transmit the thermal image. The thermal image analyzer receives the thermal image from the portable electronic device, determines an assessment on vascular health of the patient based on comparing the thermal image to a database of thermal images, and transmits the assessment to the portable electronic device.
Device for detecting and illuminating the vasculature using an FPGA
A laser based vascular illumination system utilizing a FPGA for detecting vascular positions, processing an image of such vasculature positions, and projecting the image thereof onto the body of a patient.
Video clip selector for medical imaging and diagnosis
A method for clip selection includes receiving through an interface to a medical imaging device, a selection of a diagnostic procedure and a target portion of a mammalian body. Thereafter, the device acquires video clip imagery of the target portion and stores the video clip imagery in an image store. Each video clip of the video clip imagery is then image processed to determine a view and a quality of each video clip and a rule is retrieved from a rules base corresponding to the selected diagnostic procedure and target portion. In this regard, the rule specifies a requisite view and quality of the video clip imagery. Finally, the retrieved rule is applied to the video clip imagery as a filter to produce a subset of video clip imagery satisfying the specified requisite view and quality and the subset of video clip imagery is stored in the image store.
Stand-mounted scanned laser vein contrast enhancer
The present invention is a Miniature Vein Enhancer that includes a Miniature Projection Head. The Miniature Projection Head may be operated in one of three modes, AFM, DBM and RTM. The Miniature Projection Head of the present invention projects an image of the veins of a patient which aids the practitioner in pinpointing a vein for an intravenous drip, blood test, and the like. The Miniature projection head may have a cavity for a power source or it may have a power source located in a body portion of the Miniature Vein Enhancer. The Miniature Vein Enhancer may be attached to one of several improved needle protectors, or the Miniature Vein Enhancer may be attached to a body similar to a flashlight for hand held use. The Miniature Vein Enhancer of the present invention may also be attached to a magnifying glass, a flat panel display, and the like.
WIRELESS PRESSURE ULCER ALERT DRESSING SYSTEM
A wireless pressure ulcer alert dressing system for warning a patient or caregiver that soft tissue pressure or health condition has exceeded some predetermined level that over time would necessitate moving the patient to prevent or at least reduce a risk of soft tissue damage. The dressing assembly is adapted to be applied to or near a surface of the patient's body and generate electrical outputs corresponding to soft tissue pressure and other health characteristics sensed at the surface. The dressing assembly generates output signals based on the electrical outputs and corresponding to whether or not the soft tissue pressure has exceeded a predetermined pressure level during the preselected time period. The dressing assembly includes a pocket formed therein for removable, secured and protected insertion of a variety of different sensors such as multiple pressure sensors.
SYSTEM WITH DISEASE DIAGNOSIS AND SKIN AGE MEASUREMENT FUNCTIONS AND HANDPIECE USED THEREWITH
An aesthetic or medical system is provided. The aesthetic or medical system includes: a laser irradiation device configured to generate a laser and project the laser onto body tissue; a probe configured to collect light which is generated when the laser is projected onto the body tissue; and an analysis unit configured to diagnose a disease by analyzing a spectrum of the light collected by the probe, and the probe is detachably connected to the laser irradiation device.
Apparatus and method for imaging feet
An apparatus and method for determining contours of a patient's foot ankle and lower leg. The apparatus includes an alignment structure that orientates the foot for imaging. The alignment structure includes at least one support member that engages the plantar surface of the foot substantially only in the immediate area of the lateral metatarsal heads of the foot, preferably the fifth metatarsal head. The support generates a dorsally-directed force that locks the midtarsal joint. The alignment structure further includes a saddle that engages the rearfoot and a laser beam for aligning the second metatarsal head with the distal one-third of the lower leg to place the subtalar joint in a neutral condition. The foot is thus suspended in space such that imaging is able to produce an accurate measurement of the subject areas of the foot, ankle and lower leg without distortion of the soft tissues or bone structure.
METHODS, SYSTEMS AND COMPUTER PROGRAM PRODUCTS FOR DETERMINING HEMODYNAMIC STATUS PARAMETERS USING SIGNALS DERIVED FROM MULTISPECTRAL BLOOD FLOW AND PERFUSION IMAGING
Methods for calculating a MetaKG signal are provided. The method including illuminating a region of interest in a sample with a near-infrared (NIR) light source and/or a visible light source; acquiring images of the region of interest; processing the acquired images to obtain metadata associated with the acquired images; and calculating the MetaKG signal from the metadata associated with the acquired images. Related systems and computer program products are also provided.
