FSH NUCLEIC ACID MOLECULES TO CONTROL INSECT PESTS

This disclosure concerns nucleic acid molecules and methods of use thereof for control of insect pests through RNA interference-mediated inhibition of target coding and transcribed non-coding sequences in insect pests, including coleopteran and/or hemipteran pests. The disclosure also concerns methods for making transgenic plants that express nucleic acid molecules useful for the control of insect pests, and the plant cells and plants obtained thereby.

Compositions and methods for controlling leptinotarsa

Disclosed herein are methods of controlling insect pests, in particular Leptinotarsa spp. which infest crop plants, and methods of providing plants resistant to such pests. Also disclosed are polynucleotides and recombinant DNA molecules and constructs useful in such methods, insecticidal compositions such as topical sprays containing insecticidal double-stranded RNAs, and solanaceous plants with improved resistance to infestation by Leptinotarsa spp. Further disclosed are methods of selecting target genes for RNAi-mediated silencing and control of Leptinotarsa spp.

COMPOSITION AND METHODS FOR MODULATION OF THE OCTOPAMINE RECEPTOR AND ITS HOMOLOGS

Embodiments of the invention are directed of compositions for activation or inhibition of the Octβ2 receptor and uses thereof. The inventors have discovered that the beta adrenergic-like octopamine receptor Octβ2 serves as a key signaling molecule for ovulation and recruits protein kinase A and Ca2+/calmodulin-sensitive kinase II as downstream effectors for this activity. Octβ2R homozygous mutant females are sterile, and display normal courtship, copulation, sperm storage and post-mating rejection behavior but were unable to lay eggs.

COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS TO CONTROL INSECT PESTS

Methods and compositions are provided which employ a silencing element that, when ingested by a plant insect pest, such as Coleopteran, Hemiptera, or Lepidopteran plant pest, including a Diabrotica, Leptinotarsa, Phyllotreta, Acyrthosiphan, Bemisia, Halyomorpha, Nezara, or Spodoptera plant pest, decrease the expression of a target sequence in the pest. Disclosed are various target polynucleotides set forth in any one of SEQ ID NOS: 1-53 or 107-254 disclosed herein, or variants and fragments thereof, or complements thereof, wherein a decrease in expression of one or more of the sequences in the target pest controls the pest and pest population by insect sterilization (i.e., male and female sterility, reduction of sperm count, egg production and viability) and mating-based sterile insect technique (SIT). Plants, plant parts, bacteria and other host cells comprising the silencing elements or an active variant or fragment thereof of the invention are also provided. This abstract is intended as a scanning tool for purposes of searching in the particular art and is not intended to be limiting of the present invention.

Compositions comprising fibrous polypeptides and polysaccharides

Isolated polypeptides are disclosed comprising an amino acid sequence encoding a monomer of a fibrous polypeptide attached to a heterologous polysaccharide binding domain. Composites comprising same, methods of generating same and uses thereof are all disclosed.

COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR THE DELIVERY OF OXYGEN

H-NOX proteins are mutated to exhibit improved or optimal kinetic and thermodynamic properties for blood gas O.sub.2 delivery. The engineered H-NOX proteins comprise mutations that impart altered O.sub.2 or NO ligand-binding relative to the corresponding wild-type H-NOX domain, and are operative as physiologically compatible mammalian blood O.sub.2 gas carriers. The invention also provides pharmaceutical compositions, kits, and methods that use wild-type or mutant H-NOX proteins for the treatment of any condition for which delivery of O.sub.2 is beneficial.
