INSECT CONTROL AGENTS
The invention relates to CAP2b analogues having activity against hemipteran insects such as aphids, and their use as insect control agents (e.g. insecticides) and plant protection agents. In particular it has been found that a known CAP2b analogue designated 1895, and new CAP2b analogues including molecules designated 2129, 2315, 2316 and 2320, have activity against hemipteran insects and so find use for control of hemipteran insects and plant protection.
INSECT TOXIN DELIVERY MEDIATED BY A DENSOVIRUS COAT PROTEIN
A coat protein of Junonia coenia densovirus (JcDNV) is used to deliver attached peptide insect toxin across the gut epithelium of a fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda. A fusion protein comprising VP4 attached to an insect toxin via a peptide linker is developed. A composition comprising a JcDNV coat protein attached to an insect toxin via a peptide linker can be used for insect pest control.
BISTABLE TYPE II OPSINS AND USES THEREOF
Bistable type II opsins are provided. Accordingly, there is provided a polypeptide comprising a bistable type II opsin and a heterologous ER export signal and/or membrane trafficking signal. Also provided are polynucleotides encoding same, cells expressing same and methods of use thereof.
ENGINEERED GLOBULAR ENDOLYSIN, A HIGHLY POTENT ANTIBACTERIAL ENZYME FOR MULTIDRUG RESISTANT GRAM-NEGATIVE BACTERIA
The subject invention pertains to lysins fused to a CeA peptide fragment, particularly at the C-terminus of the lysin. The subject invention also pertains to recombinant DNA encoding said lysins, vectors encoding said recombinant DNA, host cells comprising said vectors, and compositions comprising said lysins. The invention further pertains to a method of treating a bacterial infection, particularly a Gram-negative bacterial infection.
RESILIN MATERIAL FOOTWEAR AND FABRICATION METHODS
A method for making an article of footwear includes placing a purified recombinant resilin composition in a mold with a cross-linking solution, incubating the recombinant resilin composition in the cross-linking solution to generate a solid resilin material, fabricating a cushioning element of the article of footwear including at least a portion of the solid resilin material, and assembling the cushioning element insole with at least an upper of the article of footwear.
METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR IMPROVED INSECT REPELLENCY
Described herein are compositions and methods useful for isolating compositions that repel insects, including mosquitoes.
BT TOXIN RECEPTORS AND METHODS OF USE
The disclosure relates to Bt toxin resistance management. One embodiment relates to the isolation and characterization of polynucleotides and polypeptides corresponding to novel Bt toxin receptors. The polynucleotides and polypeptides are useful in identifying or designing novel Bt toxin receptor ligands including novel insecticidal toxins.
Peptide and pharmaceutical compositions of same for use as an antimicrobial and in cancer treatment
The present invention relates to a peptide derived from the defensin-3 from the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum, to pharmaceutical compositions containing same, and to the use thereof as an antimicrobial in the treatment of infections caused by gram-positive bacteria, gram-negative bacteria and fungi. The invention also relates to the use of the peptide and pharmaceutical compositions containing same, in the treatment of cancer, particularly breast cancer. The compound described is a peptide derived from defensin-3 from the red flour beetle T. castaneum.
NITRO COMPOUND DETECTION ELEMENT
An object is to provide a technique for detecting a nitro compound. The object is achieved by a nitro compound detection element formed from a specific type of an insect olfactory receptor or from an insect olfactory receptor having a specific mutation introduced.
NUCLEIC ACID THAT INTERACTS WITH A RECEPTOR FOR ENDOCRINE DISRUPTING CHEMICALS AND USE THEREOF
This invention provides a nucleic acid that enables evaluation of various endocrine disrupting actions of a very small amount of endocrine disrupting chemicals with high sensitivity. Such nucleic acid comprises a total of 20 to 60 nucleotides comprising the nucleotide sequence shown in SEQ ID NO: 1 and shows excellent responsiveness to various endocrine disrupting chemicals.
