System and method for intraoperative video processing

A monitoring method and system for providing visual enhancements during a medical procedure is described. The method includes capturing current visual information of a site during the medical procedure in real time, storing at least a portion of the captured visual information as stored visual information, identifying a feature of interest in at least one of the current visual information and the stored visual information; generating feedback data associated with the feature of interest, and displaying a virtual representation of the feedback data overlaid on the current visual information.

APPARATUS AND SYSTEM FOR MEASURING VOLUME OF BLOOD LOSS

A system for measuring the blood loss comprises a measuring device that determines a hemoglobin concentration of fluid within a container utilizing a light source and a light detector. The container receives blood and other fluids from a patient during a medical procedure. Light from the light source is passed through the blood and other fluids in the container and is detected by the light detector. Based upon a magnitude of light detected, a hemoglobin concentration of the fluid in the container can be determined. A volume-measuring device determines the volume of blood and fluid in the container. Knowing the hemoglobin concentration and volume of fluid in the container, the volume of patient blood loss in the container can be determined. The blood loss measuring device in combination with infusion systems maintains a real-blood volume status so that proper infusion of blood, crystalloid and/or colloid solutions occurs.

Rapid Detection of Bleeding Following Injury

Novel tools and techniques are provided for assessing, predicting and/or estimating a probability that a patient is bleeding, in some cases, noninvasively. In various embodiments, tools and techniques are provided for implementing rapid detection of bleeding of the patient or implementing assessment, prediction, or estimation of a probability of bleeding of the patient following injury, in some instances, in real-time before, during, and after fluid resuscitation. According to some embodiments, one or more sensors might monitor physiological data of the patient before, during, and after resuscitation following injury. A computer system might receive and analyze the physiological data, and might estimate a probability that the patient is bleeding, based at least in part on the analyzed physiological data. An indication of at least one of an assessment, prediction, or estimate of a probability that the patient is bleeding may then be displayed on a display device.

Upper gastrointestinal bleeding monitoring system

An upper gastrointestinal bleeding monitoring system includes a detection device and a signal processing device to determine bleeding condition of an upper gastrointestinal tract by using relation of time and intensity ratios of RGB three primary colors. The detecting device is placed to the upper gastrointestinal tract of a patient via his/her mouth or nasal passage and then stay the upper gastrointestinal tract for several days for detection of bleeding. The signal processing device may receive and display signal from the detection device to help medical professionals check if bleeding occurs in an upper gastrointestinal tract. Moreover, a procedure of determination of bleeding in an upper gastrointestinal tract with the upper gastrointestinal bleeding monitoring system is described.

VOLUMETRIC INDUCTION PHASE SHIFT DETECTION SYSTEM FOR DETERMINING TISSUE WATER CONTENT PROPERTIES

A method and apparatus of determining the condition of a bulk tissue sample, by: positioning a bulk tissue sample between a pair of induction coils (or antennae); passing a spectrum of alternating current (or voltage) through a first of the induction coils (or antennae); measuring spectrum of alternating current (or voltage) produced in the second of the induction coils (or antennae); and comparing the phase shift between the spectrum of alternating currents (or voltages) in the first and second induction coils (or antennae), thereby determining the condition of the bulk tissue sample.

Systems and methods for analyzing complexity of surgical footage are disclosed. A system may include at least one processor configured to analyze frames of the surgical footage to identify an anatomical structure in a first set of frames. The processor may access first historical data based on an analysis of first frame data captured from a first group of surgical procedures and analyze the first set of frames to determine a first complexity level. The processor may analyze the surgical footage to identify in a second set of frames a medical tool, an anatomical structure, and an interaction between the medical tool and the anatomical structure. The processor may access second historical data based on an analysis of a second frame data captured from a second group of surgical procedures and analyze the second set of frames to determine a second complexity level associated with the second set of frames.

Payment cards and devices with gift card, global integration, and magnetic stripe reader communication functionality

A payment card (e.g., credit and/or debit card) or other device (e.g., mobile telephone) is provided with a magnetic emulator operable to communicate data to a magnetic stripe read-head. Gift cards may be inputted by a user into such a payment card or other device such that a user can combine gift cards. Similarly, a user be provided with a global payment account that can be utilized in multiple countries that have different standards for formatting data. A user may be provided with a default country (e.g., United States) but may have a way to select that the user is in a different country (e.g., Japan). Accordingly, a user may select that a Japanese data structure be transmitted through a magnetic stripe reader when the user is in Japan.
