Eye cavity pressure treatment using IOP or CSF
Assemblies and methods for modifying an intraocular pressure of a patient's one or both eyes are disclosed. The assemblies and methods can be used to treat, inhibit, or prevent ocular conditions such as glaucoma, high intraocular pressure, optic disc edema, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, zero-gravity induced papilledema, and other optic pressure related conditions. An assembly can include a goggle including at least one cavity, a pump in fluid communication with the at least one cavity, and a control mechanism. The control mechanism can be operatively coupled to the pump and can maintain a target pressure or target pressure range in the at least one cavity, which, when the assembly is worn by a patient, is the area between a patient's eye(s) and wall surfaces of the goggle. Controlling the pressure over the outer surfaces of the patient's eye(s) can drive a desired change in the intraocular pressure of the eye(s).
Disposable assembly for drug infusion with pressure sensing for identification of and injection into fluid-filled anatomic spaces
A disposable fluid flow assembly for operation in connection with a fluid pump configured to provide a flow of fluid to the disposable fluid flow assembly is provided. The disposable fluid flow assembly includes an elongated flexible tube, a needle hub connected with the flexible tube, a pressure sensor for sensing fluid pressure, and an identification circuit embedded connected with the pressure sensor. The identification is configured to provide a plurality of signals to the central controller of the fluid pump when the disposable needle assembly is connected with the fluid pump. The plurality of signals may include various signals, such as a signal to identify physical characteristics of the assembly, a signal to ensure that the assembly is authentic, a signal to ensure that the disposable assembly is not re-used, and/or a signal to ensure that the pressure signal is connected and operating properly.
EXTERNALLY PROGRAMABLE MAGNETIC VALVE ASSEMBLY AND CONTROLLER
An externally programmable shunt valve assembly that includes a motor having a rotor that is operable in response to an externally applied magnetic field and configured to increase or decrease the working pressure of the shunt valve assembly. The motor may further include a position sensing mechanism that allows a position of the rotor, and associated pressure setting of the valve, to be determined using an external magnetic sensor. In certain examples the motor further includes a mechanical brake that is magnetically operable between a locked position and an unlocked position and which, in the locked position, prevents rotation of the rotor.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR IDENTIFICATION OF A TARGET REGION
A method and apparatus are provided for use in locating a target region which is situated in the body of a subject, for example for the delivery of drugs. The system includes an assembly for controlling the flow of fluid from a fluid reservoir to a conduit, such as a needle. A sensor detects a characteristic indicative of the fluid pressure in the conduit. The system processes data from the sensor to detect the presence of a pulsatile waveform. A controller may control further operation of the system based on information regarding the presence of the pulsatile waveform and features of the waveform, such as amplitude.

BLOOD PRESSURE MONITORING WITH ZERO FUNCTION SYSTEM AND METHOD
A system and method for monitoring the blood pressure of a patient that allows for a device sensor to be recalibrated according to atmospheric pressure without removing the device sensor from inside the patient. This permits quickly monitoring the blood pressure of a patient if a re-zero is needed. The invention has a blood pressure monitor (BPM) that obtains an atmospheric pressure observation. The atmospheric pressure observation is adjusted and stored to memory as a zero value. The zero value is retrieved to recalibrate the system and method if a device sensor has been disconnected from and reconnected to the same or a different BPM, the patient has been moved such that the surroundings have been altered to make it necessary to recalibrate according to atmospheric pressure, and/or the device sensor has been connected to a different patient care monitor.
METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING CEREBROSPINAL FLUID HYPOVOLEMIA
The method for diagnosing cerebrospinal fluid hypovolemia includes injecting saline into a subdural space of a subject in a decubitus position, raising an upper body of the subject, and then determining whether the subject has headache or not, or headache of the subject is relieved or not.
Levelling device for positioning of a medical device
A levelling device for positioning of a medical device in relation to a patient is disclosed. The levelling device comprises a tube having fluid communication between a first end and a second end, wherein the first end is configured for connection to the medical device and the second end is configured for connection to the patient. The levelling device comprises a control unit connected to a sensor, wherein the sensor is configured to transmit sensor data to the control unit which is indicative of a pressure difference between the first and second end of the tube, and an actuator connected to the control unit, wherein the actuator is configured to connect to the medical device and to arrange a position of the medical device in relation to the patient in dependence on said pressure difference.
Method And Apparatus For Valve Adjustment
Disclosed is a valve assembly operable to selectively control a flow or passage of a fluid. The valve assembly may be applied to any appropriate mechanism such as a hydrocephalus shunt, fluid draining sewage system, or tank holding system. The valve assembly disclosed may include a selected profile for various applications.
Methods Of Measuring Head, Neck, And Brain Function And Predicting And Diagnosing Memory Impairment
A computer based method and system forms measurements of brain function and predictions of a likelihood for memory impairment via the use of cameras, including a near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopic device and a camera capturing images in the Red-Green-Blue (RGB) spectrum. The device acquires from a subject measurements of ions, molecules, or combinations thereof at more than one moment in time, as well as amplitude and timing of blood pulsations. Based on the measured molecule or ion concentration, flow, and so forth, a processor assesses the probability of a neuron to form an action potential. Formation of an action potential increases the probability that the subject individual will create a memory.
