A hub for an optical shape sensing reference includes a hub body (606) configured to receive an elongated flexible instrument (622) with a shape sensing system coupled to the flexible instrument within a path formed in the hub body. A profile (630) is formed in the hub body in the path to impart a hub template configured to distinguish a portion of the elongated flexible instrument within the hub in shape sensing data. An attachment mechanism (616) is formed on the hub body to detachably connect the hub body to a deployable instrument such that a change in a position of the hub body indicates a corresponding change in the deployable device.

Electroporation systems and catheters for electroporation systems

The present disclosure provides catheters for electroporation systems. One catheter includes a plurality of catheter electrodes disposed along a portion of a distal end of the electroporation catheter. The plurality of catheter electrodes includes a plurality of first type catheter electrodes adapted for use with an electroporation generator during an electroporation procedure and a plurality of second type catheter electrodes adapted for use with an electroporation generator during an electroporation procedure and for use with a diagnostic subsystem. The plurality of first type catheter electrodes is positioned at a distal end of the electroporation catheter. Each second type catheter electrode is adjacent another second type catheter electrode.

A medical supporting arm according to the present disclosure includes a supporting arm and a calculation unit. The supporting arm supports an oblique-viewing endoscope. The calculation unit calculates a rotation angle of the oblique-viewing endoscope around an axis in a longitudinal direction, and an insertion amount of the oblique-viewing endoscope into a human body on the basis of a first expression that defines coordinates of a subject in a coordinate system in which an insertion opening allowing the oblique-viewing endo scope to be inserted into the human body serves as an origin, and a second expression that defines the coordinates of the subject positioned in an optical axis direction of an objective lens disposed at a distal end of the oblique-viewing endoscope in a coordinate system in which the distal end of the oblique-viewing endoscope serves as an origin.

Medical manipulator system

The technology disclosed herein is directed to a medical manipulator system having a medical device. The medical device such as endoscope or other surgical instrument includes an elongated insertion portion. A holder assembly includes an articulated arm carrying the medical device that is attached thereto and is actuated following movement of the medical device and holds the medical device in a stationary state at a desired position. A position/attitude detection unit detects positions and attitudes of the elongated insertion portion in plurality states into which the medical device is caused to swing about a constraint point. A constraint point estimation unit estimates a position of the constraint point based on the positions and attitudes of the insertion portion as detected by the position/attitude detection unit.

A medical image processing device acquires an endoscopic image obtained by imaging a subject with an endoscope, detects a gravity direction in the endoscopic image on the basis of the endoscopic image, generates a gravity direction indication indicating the gravity direction, and displays the gravity direction indication on a display. An endoscope system includes the medical image processing device and the endoscope.

HETERODYNE CATHETER CALIBRATION SYSTEM

A catheter calibration system includes a calibration chamber, a receiver and a processor. The calibration chamber is configured to generate a calibration magnetic field that oscillates at a first frequency. The calibration chamber includes a cavity for inserting a distal end of a catheter having one or more magnetic-field sensors. The receiver is configured to be connected to the catheter, to receive from the catheter one or more signals, which are generated by the one or more magnetic-field sensors in response to the calibration magnetic field, and to convert the one or more signals into one or more respective intermediate frequency (IF) signals having a second frequency that is lower than the first frequency. The processor is configured to receive the one or more IF signals from the receiver and to calculate catheter navigation calibration data from the one or more IF signals.
