An electrochemical sensor arrangement (10) for a breath alcohol measuring device (100), to a corresponding breath alcohol measuring device (100) as well as to a process for determining a vitality of electrodes of an electrochemical sensor. The electrochemical sensor arrangement comprises an electrochemical sensor with at least two electrodes (12, 14). The electrochemical sensor arrangement further comprises a heat source (16). The heat source is arranged such that it, upon activation, selectively heats one of the electrodes (12) of the electrochemical sensor.

Breath analysis system, device and method employing nanoparticle-based sensor

A system is provided that includes a portable measurement device for measuring acetone in a breath sample of a user. The measurement device comprises a housing, a user-direct breath input device for engaging in direct fluid communication with a respiratory tract of the user and receiving the breath sample from the respiratory tract, a flow path disposed within the housing, a nanoparticle-based sensor disposed in the housing in fluid communication with the flow path and at an intermediate location between the upstream end and the downstream end, and a flow control device disposed in the housing and in the flow path between the upstream end and the nanoparticle-based sensor that prevents flow of the breath sample in an upstream direction opposite the downstream direction.

Continuous biomechanical energy harvester from breath-associated torso movement

A system, device and method are provided for continuously generating more than 0.01 watt of electrical energy by harnessing mechanical or kinetic energy from a reciprocating motion of a user's torso during breathing. The reciprocating motion causes reciprocating lateral and medial translation of two chambers of the device housing. That reciprocating lateral and medial translation rotates a gear, which in turn, drives a dynamo to produce electrical energy. Since the conversion from the mechanical energy of the spinning rod to power is direct, the energy-conversion efficiency may be up to 90% or higher. The device may further comprise one or more charging means for providing electrical energy to one or more peripheral electronic devices. In some embodiments, additional integrated functions may include auxiliary energy storage, backup energy, emergency power, mini-MP3 player, data recorder, GPS interface, miniature video recorder, speaker, abdomen muscle exercise, timing, Bluetooth interface, and heath information analyzer.
