Systems and methods for missed breath detection and indication
This disclosure describes improved systems and methods for displaying respiratory data to a clinician in a ventilatory system. Respiratory data may be displayed by any number of suitable means, for example, via appropriate graphs, diagrams, charts, waveforms, and other graphic displays. The disclosure describes novel systems and methods for determining and displaying ineffective patient inspiratory or expiratory efforts or missed breaths in a manner easily deciphered by a clinician.
RESPIRATION DEVICE AND METHOD FOR A RESPIRATION DEVICE
The present invention relates to a method and a respiration device having a respiration unit for generating an airflow for the respiration and having a monitoring unit. The monitoring unit is used to detect a respiration parameter and to classify events in the respiration on the basis of monitoring of the respiration parameter. In this case, the monitoring unit is configured to carry out an event analysis to recognize an occurrence, which is characteristic for Cheyne-Stokes respiration, of chronologically successive events and for this purpose to ascertain the period length thereof and to compare them to one another and to register the presence of Cheyne-Stokes respiration when the compared period lengths each deviate by less than 40% from one another.
ORAL APPLIANCE FOR THE TREATMENT OF SLEEP APNEA
An oral appliance for treating sleep apnea in a user includes a mouthpiece configured for being positioned in an oral cavity of the user, and at least one pulse oximeter attached to the mouthpiece. According to an aspect, the pulse oximeter is configured to monitor actual oxygen saturation levels of hemoglobin of the user when the oral appliance is positioned in the oral cavity of the user. The oral appliance may include an additional sensor attached to the mouthpiece that includes at least one of an airflow sensor, a pressure sensor, a noise detector, and an actigraphy sensor.
Apparatus for determining respiratory condition
An apparatus for determining a respiratory condition, the apparatus includes: a signal acquirer which is configured to acquire a signal waveform corresponding to a respiratory flow of a subject; a differential calculator which is configured to acquire a differential waveform which is obtained by performing differentiation of the signal waveform; and a first determiner which is configured to determine that inspiratory flow limitation occurs in the subject, when the differential waveform satisfies a predetermined condition in a portion of the signal waveform, which corresponds to inspiration of the subject.
Apnea analysis system and method
An apnea analysis system may include a photoplethysmographic (PPG) sub-system, a breath detection sub-system, and an apnea analysis module. An apnea analysis system includes a photoplethysmographic (PPG) sub-system, a breath detection sub-system, and an apnea analysis module. The PPG sub-system is configured to be operatively connected to an individual and output a PPG signal from the individual. The breath detection sub-system is configured to be operatively connected to the individual and output a breath signal from the individual. The apnea analysis module is in communication with the PPG sub-system and the breath detection sub-system. The apnea analysis module analyzes the breath signal and a respiratory component of the PPG signal and, based on the analysis, identifies a presence of apnea, differentiates between obstructive apnea and central apnea, and provides an indication of the identified apnea.
OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA TREATMENT DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Devices, systems and methods of neurostimulation for treating obstructive sleep apnea. The system is adapted to send an electrical signal from an implanted neurostimulator through a stimulation lead to a patient's nerve at an appropriate phase of the respiratory cycle based on input from a respiration sensing lead. External components are adapted for wireless communication with the neurostimulator. The neurostimulator is adapted to deliver therapeutic stimulation based on inputs.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR DETECTION AND MONITORING OF HEALTH PARAMETERS
Methods and apparatus provide monitoring of coughing and/or a sleep disordered breathing state of a person. One or more sensors may be configured for non-contact active and/or passive sensing. The processor(s) may extract respiratory effort signal(s) from one or more motion signals generated by active non-contact sensing with the sensor(s). The processor(s) may extract one or more energy band signals from an acoustic audio signal generated by passive non-contact sensing with the sensor(s). The processor(s) may assess the energy band signal(s) and/or the respiratory efforts signal(s) to generate intensity signal(s) representing sleep disorder breathing modulation. The processor(s) may classify feature(s) derived from the one or more intensity signals to generate measure(s) of coughing and/or sleep disordered breathing. The processor may evaluate sensing signal(s) to generate indication(s) of cough event(s) and/or cough type which may include generating an indication of a coronavirus disease or a coronavirus disease cough type.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PATIENT DATA PROCESSING DURING DIAGNOSIS AND THERAPY
A system and method for patient data processing during diagnosis and therapy of a patient's sleep disorder breathing. The system and method includes providing diagnostic providers and therapy device providers with a simple and fast way to generate a clinical diagnosis from a diagnostic device and to transfer that patient's record and diagnostic data to the therapy provider responsible for the patient's ongoing care. The patient may be automatically assigned therapy devices having predetermined therapy settings that are based on the patient's record and diagnostic data.
DETECTING GASES AND RESPIRATION BY THE CONDUCTIVITY OF WATER WITHIN A POROUS SUBSTRATE SENSOR
A method of and system for detecting a gas or vapor includes providing a sensor comprising an electrode pair in electrical contact with a layer of porous material, the porous material layer having water adsorbed on its surface; contacting the sensor with a gas or vapor sample to be analysed; applying a voltage across the electrode pair of the sensor; and measuring a response, the response correlating to the presence of a target gas or vapor.
Central Apnea Detection
Existing apnea monitors fail to detect clinically important apnea events because they fail to distinguish cardiac artifacts from a chest impedance signal and therefore fail to detect cessation of breathing. A system and method are disclosed that provides improved apnea detection, particularly in a neonatal setting. The disclosed techniques filter out cardiac artifacts from the chest impedance signal, allowing determining a probability of an apnea event. Detection of an apnea event may then be used to trigger an alarm, initiate automatic physical stimulation of the patient, or both.
