Organic polymer adsorbent, composition of organic polymer adsorbent and method of manufacturing thereof
The present invention relates to an organic polymer adsorbent, an organic polymer adsorbent composition, and a method for preparing an organic polymer adsorbent and, more specifically, to an organic polymer adsorbent to be used for a ventilation device such as a desiccant dehumidifier. According to the present invention, an adsorbent material is changed to an organic polymer adsorbent such that the mechanical stability and durability of the material itself can be ensured, and the specific surface area of interconnected inner pores and adsorbents and the size of formed pores can be controlled since toluene is contained as a pore generator of the adsorbent. Therefore, the adsorbent of the present invention has superior adsorption performance over that of other conventional organic polymer adsorbents containing a salt-type carboxyl group and has remarkably improved desorption performance, and thus has an effect of very remarkable energy efficiency.
Elastomeric terpolymer compositions for corner molding applications
Disclosed herein is a composition comprising from 5 to 20 parts by weight per hundred parts by weight rubber (phr) of a propylene-α-olefin-diene (PEDM) terpolymer comprising 1 to 10 wt % diene, 5 to 40 wt % α-olefin, and 15 to 85 wt % propylene, said wt % based on the weight of the PEDM terpolymer; and from 80 to 95 phr of an ethylene-based copolymer comprising ethylene, one or more C.sub.3 to C.sub.12 α-olefins, and, optionally, one or more dienes; wherein the amount of ethylene content of the ethylene-based copolymer (in wt % on the basis of total weight of the ethylene-based copolymer) is greater than the amount of α-olefin content of the PEDM terpolymer (in wt % on the basis of total weight of the PEDM terpolymer).
Compatibilized thermoplastic vulcanizate compositions
Disclosed is the preparation of compatibilized thermoplastic vulcanizates with reduced crosslinked rubber dispersion sizes and dispersity. A cross-linkable ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer with majority propylene (PEDM) is used to compatibilize a plastic and rubber blend of a polypropylene (PP) and an ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer rubber, where the propylene content is less than 50 wt % (EPDM), in dynamic vulcanization and preparation of PP/EPDM thermoplastic vulcanizates. The resulting PP/EPDM thermoplastic vulcanizates typically exhibit a weight average equivalent dispersion diameter of less than 3 microns and a particle size polydispersity index (PSDI), or weight average over number average dispersion diameter, of less than 5. This reduction in crosslinked rubber dispersion size in a PP/EPDM TPV by using PEDM compatibilizers enhances the toughness of the vulcanizate product by raising both elongation to break and break stress.
POLY(CYCLOHEXADIENE) HOMOPOLYMER BASED COMPOSITIONS AND USES THEREOF
The disclosure relates to methods for producing poly(cyclohexadiene) homopolymers (PCHD). The PCHD is formed by polymerizing a 1,3-cyclohexadiene monomer in the presence of a catalyst, in a hydrocarbon solvent, and at a temperature of −100° C. to 120° C. The catalyst is selected from the group consisting of a Bronsted acid, a Lewis acid, and combinations thereof. PCHD produced under these conditions has good solubility in non-polar solvents, and a number average molecular weight of 300 to 5,000 Dalton; a weight average molecular weight of 5,000 to 15,000 Delton; and a polydispersity index of 3.0 to 8.0. The PCHD is useful for producing crosslinked materials having good physical properties. The crosslinked materials can be combined with a rubbery polymer to produce compositions valuable for further downstream uses.
CYCLIC DIENE-BASED COPOLYMERS
Disclosed herein are copolymers formed by cationic polymerfization of one or more cyclic dienes and a comonomer selected from the group consisting of a monoterpene, a branched styrene, and combinations thereof, in the presence of a catalyst. Random copolymers having repeat units derived from a cyclic conjugated diene, such as 1,3-cyclohexadiene, and a comonomer such as a monoterpene, can be prepared as soluble products in hydrocarbon solvents. The copolymers can be crosslinked with various crosslinking agents to form materials having good oxidative stability and fire retardancy. The uncrosslinked and crosslinked copolymers have useful properties such as a low dissipation factor, low dielectric constants, and a good balance of thermomechanical and electrical properties that make them valuable in electronic applications.
