TINNITUS REMEDIATION WITH SPEECH PERCEPTION AWARENESS

Presented herein are techniques that set attributes of tinnitus remediation signals delivered to a user based on a predetermined ability of the user to understand target sounds in the presence of background signals. In certain examples, the techniques presented herein provide varying levels of tinnitus relief and target sound perception based on an individual's needs.

METHODS, SYSTEMS, AND DEVICES FOR TREATING TINNITUS WITH VNS PAIRING

A method of treating tinnitus comprising measuring a patient's hearing, determining the patient's hearing loss and the patient's tinnitus frequency using the measurements of the patient's hearing, programming a clinical controller with the measurements of the patient's hearing, selecting a plurality of therapeutic tones, where the therapeutic tones are selected to be at least a half-octave above or below of the patient's tinnitus frequency, setting an appropriate volume for each of the plurality of tones, repetitively playing each of the plurality of therapeutic tones, and pairing a vagus nerve stimulation pulse train with each playing of a therapeutic tone, thereby reducing the patient's perception of tinnitus.

An apparatus and method for hearing analysis including a frequency setting part for setting a predetermined frequency at which there is a possibility of tinnitus of the subject; a signal generation part generates a pure tone signal of the set frequency and increase or decrease the level of the generated pure tone signal, and generates a complex tone signal including the frequency of the pure tone signal and increase or decrease a level of the generated complex tone signal; and a hearing analysis part to analyze hearing by using a pure tone recognition information and a complex tone recognition information of the subject obtained in reaction to the pure tone signal and the complex tone signal generated by the signal generation part. As a result, the apparatus and method can accurately determine the tinnitus region and also provide information from which point of the sound path the tinnitus originates.

Multi-device integration with hearable for managing hearing disorders

Hearing management, using a portable device or integrated portable devices, can include generating during a hearing diagnostics phase an audiogram based on responses of a user to signals conveyed to the user. In response to detecting ambient noises during the hearing diagnostics phase, noise cancellation can be performed to cancel the ambient noises in conjunction with conveying the signals to the user. During a hearing enhancement phase, sounds can be captured with the portable device. The captured sounds can be enhanced in real-time during the hearing enhancement phase by amplifying select frequencies of the captured sounds using signal gain. The frequencies can be selected, and the signal gain determined based on the audiogram. The captured sounds, now enhanced, can be conveyed to the user as frequency-enhanced sounds.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR GENERATION OF CUSTOMISED SENSORY STIMULUS

A tinnitus treatment system comprising a sound processing unit, a haptic stimulus unit and an audio delivery unit. The sound processing unit comprises a processor input for receiving an audio signal; and a digital signal processor operable to analyse said audio signal and generate a plurality of actuation signals therefrom which are representative of said audio signal. The digital signal processor is further operable to spectrally modify said audio signal in accordance with a predetermined modification profile to generate a modified audio signal. The haptic stimulus unit comprises an array of stimulators each of which can be independently actuated to apply a tactile stimulus to a subject; and a stimulus unit input for receiving the plurality of actuation signals generated by said digital signal processor and directing individual actuation signals to individual stimulators. The audio delivery unit comprises an audio delivery unit input for receiving the modified audio signal generated by said digital signal processor.

Method and System for Self-Managed Sound Enhancement

A system and method are provided for capturing hearing characteristics from self-administered hearing tests, including loudness tolerance levels at different sound frequencies, as an individualized shaped auditory profile for automatically enhancing audio to complement and address an individual's hearing deficits experienced via a particular signal pathway including the audio device used to administer the test, the sound environment, and the user's hearing capabilities. The user may self-administer a hearing test on a smartphone or other device. The shaped auditory profile may be used to produce enhanced sound subsequently transmitted to the individual via the same signal pathway. In some aspects, the invention is useful for any individual seeking an enhanced hearing experience, whether having hearing within normal range or hearing that is impaired. Manual gain adjustments applied by a user to the enhanced sound thereby produced may result in changes to a stored shaped auditory profile or the generation of a new profile.
