Water dispersible, self-crosslinkable prepolymer composition
The present invention provides an economical route to environmentally friendly polymeric coatings with a high content of raw materials from renewable resources. These polymeric coatings offer performance characteristics that are competitive with conventional coating systems. The unique polymers on which this invention is based are copolymers of triglyceride oils, such as soybean oil, linseed oil, or another natural oil, with a vinyl compound, such as an acrylate or methacrylate, or a vinyl aromatic monomer. The present invention more specifically discloses a water dispersible, self-crosslinkable prepolymer composition which is comprised of a triglyceride oil having appended thereto (1) hydroxyl groups, (2) epoxy groups, (3) moieties which contain at least one aldehyde group or at least one ketone group, and (4) moieties which contain at least one vinyl and/or substituted vinyl group. In one embodiment of this invention the moiety which contains at least one vinyl group is derived from maleic anhydride.
Bonding Dissimilar Materials with Adhesive Paste
A rivetable adhesive for use in a joint between dissimilar materials, comprising a Nquid epoxy resin, an expoxidized polysulfide, a flexibilizer, a solid epoxy CTBN adduct based upon bisphenol A, a prienoxy resin, an impact modifier including methacrylate-butadiene-styrene, a curing agent; and a blowing agent. The adhesive finds particular suitability for use in riveting aluminum panels to steel structures, such as for forming automotive vehicle roof structures.
Epoxy resin composition
The present invention relates to adhesive compositions containing a prepolymer which can be obtained by reacting a reaction mixture containing: at least one epoxy resin; at least one polyetherdiamine or polyethertriamine; at least one carboxyl-terminated butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymer (CTBN); and rubber particles having a core/shell structure. The invention also relates to methods for curing said compositions, to the cured adhesive compositions thus obtained, to the use thereof for bonding components and to the components thus obtained.
TWO-COMPONENT CURABLE COMPOSITIONS
Room temperature, two-component curable compositions and their uses are described. The curable compositions are alternative to isocyanate systems and are kinetically tunable to cure within seconds to months. The curable compositions are particularly useful as coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomers for consumer packages including food packages.
Bonding dissimilar materials with adhesive paste
A rivetable adhesive for use in a joint between dissimilar materials, comprising a liquid epoxy resin, an expoxidized polysulfide, a flexibilizer, a solid epoxy CTBN adduct based upon bisphenol A, a phenoxy resin, an impact modifier including methacrylate-butadiene-styrene, a curing agent; and a blowing agent. The adhesive finds particular suitability for use in riveting aluminum panels to steel structures, such as for forming automotive vehicle roof structures.
A method for preventing hardener compounds to be formed from hardener precursors in an aerosol formulation and a two-component aerosol formulation
A method for preventing hardener compounds to be formed from hardener precursors in an aerosol formulation suitable for use in aerosol for making a paint is disclosed.
Adhesive compositions, manufacture and use thereof
The invention relates to an adhesive composition having an added component of rubber-epoxy such as XNBR-epoxy adducts. It was found that the new adhesive composition significantly reduces meander formation in the making of automotive parts.
Polyphenolic condensates and epoxy resins thereof
Polyphenolic condensates and epoxidized products prepared from said condensates are prepared by a reaction utilizing multi catalysts to control the weight average molecular weight (Mw) and the number average molecular weight (Mn). Improved color and ultraviolet absorbance are possessed by the condensates described herein.
RESIST UNDERLAYER FILM-FORMING COMPOSITION COMPRISING EPOXY ADDUCT HAVING LONG-CHAIN ALKYL GROUP
A resist underlayer film-forming composition in which a coating film having high flattening properties is formed on a substrate. A resist underlayer film-forming composition including an epoxy adduct (C) obtained by reacting an epoxy group-containing compound (A) with an epoxy adduct-forming compound (B), wherein one or both of the epoxy group-containing compound (A) and the epoxy adduct-forming compound (B) contain an optionally branched alkyl group having a carbon atom number of three or more. The epoxy adduct-forming compound (B) is at least one compound selected from the group consisting of carboxylic acid (B1), carboxylic anhydride (B2), a phenol compound (B3), a hydroxyl group-containing compound (B4), a thiol compound (B5), an amino compound (B6), and an imide compound (B7). The optionally branched alkyl group having a carbon atom number of three or more is contained in the epoxy adduct-forming compound (B). The optionally branched alkyl group has a C.sub.3-19 alkyl group.
Curing agent for epoxy resins
Amine terminated curing agents for curing water based epoxy resins wherein the equivalent weight of active hydrogen is from 85 g to 105 g obtained by reacting polyamine with salicylic acid and subsequently reacting with epoxy resin. The invention also relates to curing compositions, curable systems, and cured compositions and coatings including such curing agents. The cured coatings find application as coatings for floor surfaces, including surfaces where food use approval is required. The cured coatings have particular application for coating the flooring of shipping containers but the use is not so limited.
