Medical diagnostic system and method
A medical diagnostic system is provided to automate analysis of samples to predict a medical condition, such as pregnancy or chronic kidney disease. The system may provide test strip usage automation. The medical diagnostic system may include a sample collection component, collection cup contamination protection mechanism, sample volume control component, test strip reader component, which may be manifested as a lateral flow strip reader, flow reader, sample analytic component, data processing component, data communication component, networked data management component, and device cleaning mechanism. A method to automate analysis of samples to predict a medical condition using the medical diagnostic system is also provided.
OVERACTIVE BLADDER DIAGNOSTIC APPARATUS AND METHODS
A method of diagnosing the risk that a subject has or has an increased risk of developing overactive bladder syndrome is described. The method includes detecting the levels of choline and/or acetylcholine in a biological sample from the subject, comparing the detected levels to reference values, and characterizing the subject as having an increased risk of having or developing overactive bladder syndrome if the choline and/or acetylcholine values are higher than the reference values. Kits for determining choline and/or acetylcholine levels in a subject, and methods of treating a subject for overactive bladder syndrome are also described.
HEALTH MONITORING CAT LITTER
Technology is disclosed for a cat litter that can be used to diagnose feline medical conditions. A cat litter contains an additive, e.g., a chemical agent, such as a natural and/or synthetic agent, that changes in color when it comes in contact with cat urine or feces. Based on the color it can be determined whether the cat has a medical condition, such as particular illness. For example, if the litter turns yellow when it comes in contact with the urine, it can indicate that the cat is healthy. If the litter turns to a color other than yellow, e.g., green, it can indicate that the cat has some illness. The cat then be taken to a veterinary doctor for further diagnosis. The chemical agent aids in detection and diagnosis through interaction of materials that change colors to indicate reactions with specific chemicals, cells, molecules, DNA and/or materials. The technology can be implemented for medical diagnosis and detection—for humans and/or animals.
METHOD OF PROVIDING INFORMATION
A method of providing information includes outputting a request of acquisition of menu information to a second server based on a request for a personalized menu for the user acquired from an information terminal of the user via a network, acquiring identification information stored in the information terminal from the information terminal via a network, acquiring the menu information from a second server generating information indicating a degree of dietary restriction depending on a progress of a disease of the user based on the biological information of the user, generating, based on the menu information and the information indicating the degree of dietary restriction, a personalized menu for the user so as to meet the information indicating the degree of dietary restriction, and transmitting the personalized menu to the information terminal, thereby allowing a dish to be selected from the personalized menu on the information terminal.
Toilet with a Multi Function Bidet Wand
A toilet comprising a seat for supporting a user during use of the toilet, a bowl for catching excreta from the user, a retractable bidet wand adapted to extend after excretion has concluded, a bidet head located on the end of the bidet wand, adapted to spray water on the exposed surface of the user, an image sensor on the bidet wand, adapted to capture images of the exposed surfaces of the user, and a processor to analyze the images to detect health issues.
Multi-factor urine test system that adjusts for lighting and timing
System that enables urine testing in a home environment. A user may apply a urine sample to a card containing multiple tests, and capture an image of the card using a phone; an analysis system executing on the phone or in the cloud may analyze the image and determine test results. The test card and analysis system may compensate for variability in lighting conditions and time of exposure to the urine sample, which are difficult to control in a home environment. The test card may contain fiducial markers of known colors; the analysis system may adjust colors in the captured image based on appearance of these markers. Color adjustments may also compensate for nonuniform lighting across the card. The card may also contain time indicators that change appearance over time after urine is applied, and the analysis system may use these indicators to calculate the time of exposure.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR AUTOMATICALLY TRACKING URINE
A method of automatically tracing urine in a toilet includes creating a background image of an interior of a toilet bowl using an image sensor, wherein the background image shows the interior of the toilet bowl. The method also includes acquiring an image of the interior of the toilet bowl using the image sensor, wherein the acquired image shows urine and a collecting and tracing member in the interior of the toilet bowl. The method further includes producing a difference image that shows a difference between the acquired image and the background image, and processing the difference image to identify a location of the urine and the collecting and tracing member, and moving the collecting and tracing member to the identified location of the urine.
AUTOMATED COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS OF BODY FLUIDS
A method for collecting and analyzing urine at the time it is released uses a urine collecting tube joined with a canister. Suction is produced in the collecting tube to join the tube with a penis or to the exterior surface of a female urethra orifice. Once suction is achieved the collecting tube stays in place by suction action. When urine flows into the urine collecting tube a sensor triggers a vacuum pump to produce a higher level of suction to flush the urine into the canister where a level sensor determines the quantity of urine received. Various sensors in the canister determine levels of non-urine partials such as occult blood, drugs, salt, and other substances. When urine is no longer detected within the urine tube, the vacuum pump is turned off and a low-level vacuum remains to assure interconnection with the urine tube.
Waste Detection System
Disclosed herein is a waste detection system. The waste detection system includes a pad configured to acquire a fluid sample excreted from a patient. The pad includes one or more layers and at least one microfluidic channel configured to receive therein the fluid sample. The waste detection system further includes an intake manifold in fluid communication with the at least one microfluidic channel, the intake manifold configured to receive the fluid sample, the intake manifold having one or more reagents configured to detect the presence of waste within the fluid sample excreted from the patient.
EMPOWERMENT OF SIGNIFICANT SUPPORTERS IN SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT
Patients with substance abuse problems may be prescribed regular medication that dulls the positive effects of the substance. However, one of the largest challenges for substance abuse patients is that many do not regularly take their medication as they want to experience the high of the substance. Accordingly, systems and methods have been developed for medication sessions that distract the patient from taking the medicine by incorporating the reminder and other med actions in close temporal proximity.
