Particle size control of metallocene catalyst systems in loop slurry polymerization reactors

Catalyst compositions containing a metallocene compound, a solid activator, and a co-catalyst, in which the solid activator or the supported metallocene catalyst has a d50 average particle size of 15 to 50 μm and a particle size distribution of 0.5 to 1.5, can be contacted with an olefin in a loop slurry reactor to produce an olefin polymer. A representative ethylene-based polymer produced using the catalyst composition has excellent dart impact strength and low gels, and can be characterized by a HLMI from 4 to 10 g/10 min, a density from 0.944 to 0.955 g/cm.sup.3, a higher molecular weight component with a Mn from 280,000 to 440,000 g/mol, and a lower molecular weight component with a Mw from 30,000 to 45,000 g/mol and a ratio of Mz/Mw ranging from 2.3 to 3.4.

The present application relates to an encapsulant for a PV module, a method of manufacturing the same and a PV module. The encapsulant according to an embodiment of the present application has excellent heat resistance or the like and improved creep physical properties, and thus even when the encapsulant is used under conditions of a high temperature and/or high humidity for a long time, deformation is small and the encapsulant can exhibit excellent adhesive strength. Accordingly, when the encapsulant is applied to a PV module, durability or the like may be improved.

Method of purifying polyolefin

Provided is a method of purifying polyolefin, the method including the step of contacting linear low-density polyethylene synthesized by a gas phase polymerization reaction with a purge gas containing an ethylene gas and an inert gas in a purge bin. According to this purification method, residual alkene monomers with high carbon numbers may be removed in a simpler and more efficient manner.

A 4-methyl-1-pentene polymer having: a unit derived from 4-methyl-1-pentene of 90 to 100% by mol; a unit selected from ethylene and an α-olefin, other than 4-methyl-1-pentene, having 3 to 20 carbon atoms of 0 to 10% by mol; and the polymer satisfying the following requirements: (a) a meso diad fraction measured by .sup.13C-NMR within the range of 98 to 100%; (b) a ratio of Z-average molecular weight Mz to weight-average molecular weight Mw measured by GPC within the range of 2.5 to 20; (c) a ratio of weight-average molecular weight Mw to number-average molecular weight Mn measured by GPC within the range of 3.6 to 30; (d) a melt flow rate measured under conditions of 260° C. and a 5 kg load (ASTM D1238) within the range of 0.1 to 500 g/10 min; and (e) an amount of a decane-soluble portion at 23° C. is 5.0% by mass or less.

This disclosure relates to rotomolded articles, having a wall structure, where the wall structure contains at least one layer containing an ethylene interpolymer product, or a blend containing an ethylene interpolymer product and an ethylene polymer, where the ethylene interpolymer product has a Dilution Index (Y.sub.d) greater than 0 and improved Environmental Stress Crack Resistance (ESCR). The ethylene interpolymer product has a melt index from about 0.5 to about 15 dg/minute, a density from about 0.930 to about 0.955 g/cm.sup.3, a polydispersity (M.sub.w/M.sub.n) from about 2 to about 6 and a CDBI.sub.50 from about 50% to about 98%. Further, the ethylene interpolymer products are a blend of at least two ethylene interpolymers; where one ethylene interpolymer is produced with a single-site catalyst formulation and at least one ethylene interpolymer is produced with a heterogeneous catalyst formulation.

4-methyl-1-pentene based resin foam containing a 4-methyl-1-pentene based resin, and having an expansion ratio of 3 times or more is prepared. When measured in a decalin solvent at 135° C., an intrinsic viscosity [η] of the 4-methyl-1-pentene based resin may be 0.5 to 5 dl/g. The 4-methyl-1-pentene based resin may have a glass transition temperature of 0° C. to 80° C. The 4-methyl-1-pentene based resin may have a melting point. The 4-methyl-1-pentene based resin may be a 4-methyl-1-pentene/C.sub.2-20α-olefin copolymer (in particular, 4-methyl-1-pentene/C.sub.2-4α-olefin copolymer). The expansion ratio of the 4-methyl-1-pentene based resin foam may be 10 times or greater.
