Prediction of the outcome of endovascular treatment in acute ischemic stroke patients
The present application provides for use of a somatosensory evoked potential (SEP) during the hyperacute stroke phase as marker for predicting the outcome of endovascular treatment in a patient suffering from acute ischemic stroke, wherein when the SEP ipsilateral to the stroke site has an amplitude from 60% to 100% with respect to the corresponding SEP contralateral to the stroke site this is indicative of good outcome of the endovascular treatment, whereas when the SEP ipsilateral to the stroke site has an amplitude from 0% to 20% with respect to the corresponding SEP contralateral to the stroke site this is indicative of bad outcome of the endovascular treatment.
ENTERTAINMENT DEVICE FOR PROMOTING GAMMA OSCILATIONS
The present disclosure describes a method for neuromodulating a subject, comprising providing (i) a cognitively engaging content, and (ii) a gamma oscillation inducing waveform, wherein said gamma oscillation inducing waveform: comprises an intensity that renders said gamma oscillation inducing waveform imperceptible to said subject; and causes a therapeutic improvement in a cognitive function, thereby neuromodulating said subject.
Hearing evaluation and configuration of a hearing assistance-device
A method for evaluating hearing of a user comprising: generating a baseline hearing profile for the user comprising a set of gain values based on a volume setting, each gain value in the set of gain values corresponding to a frequency band in a set of frequency bands; accessing a soundbite comprising a phrase characterized by a frequency spectrum predominantly within one frequency band; playing the soundbite amplified by a first gain in the frequency band; playing the soundbite amplified by a second gain in the frequency band; receiving a preference input representing a preference of the user from amongst the soundbite amplified by the first gain and the soundbite amplified by the second; and modifying a gain value, corresponding to the frequency band, in the baseline hearing profile based on the preference input to generate a refined hearing profile compensating for hearing deficiency of the user.
Clustered volley method and apparatus
Systems and methods are disclosed for assessing the function of parts of one or more sensory fields of a subject. Pupillary responses to at least two clustered ensembles of stimuli presented to predetermined portions of the sensory fields to be tested are measured. Each cluster comprises individual stimuli presented at locations across the sensory field, where the locations are defined on appropriate axes for the tested sensory fields. The method comprises: presenting statistically independent sequences of selected individual stimuli from the two or more clustered stimulus ensembles to a sensory field of a subject, thereby evoking pupillary responses in at least one pupil of the subject; detecting responses of the pupil or pupils evoked by the stimuli using at least one sensor; and processing the detected responses to relate the detected response to the sensory function of each component part of the sensory field. The sensory fields may be, but are not limited to, the visual fields of the two eyes of a subject.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR REMOTE MOTOR AND SENSORY FUNCTION TESTING
A system for remote motor and sensory function testing may involve use of patent and clinician computing devices, a patient testing device, and a clinician control device. A Remote Testing System (RTS) may coordinate displays of information among the devices in support of a test. A clinician or the RTS may cause display of instructions for guiding a patient in using the patient testing device. A clinician may receive feedback from the patient's interaction during the test session, or during a later session. The clinician control device may be used to control functioning of the patient testing device, in support of the test. The clinician control device may provide haptic or other feedback during the test session or during a later session. The system may track patient performance across multiple sessions and initiate follow-up test sessions as a result of data gathered in one or more prior test sessions.
Systems and methods for use in treating sensory impairment
Methods and systems for use in treating one or more patient's sensory impairment, e.g., associated with peripheral neuropathy. An exemplary system may be configured to generate treatment information for treating sensory impairment in at least one body portion using photonic energy from a therapeutic laser based on data indicative of damage.
Identifying sensory inputs affecting working memory load of an individual
In an aspect of the invention, a method of identifying sensory inputs affecting working memory load of an individual is provided. The method comprises monitoring (S101) working memory load of the individual using a sensor device, detecting (S102) an increase in the working memory load of the individual, and identifying (S103), in response to the detected increase, at least one sensory input affecting the working memory load of the individual.
System and method for cortical mapping without direct cortical stimulation and with little required communication
An apparatus for cortical mapping and method for using same are disclosed. The apparatus comprises a ECoG electrodes array, a stimulation pad, a neural interface processor, and a computing device for mapping eloquent cortical regions of a subject's brain without using exogenous stimulation and with high resolution.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR RESTORING VOLUNTARY CONTROL OF LOCOMOTION IN NEUROMOTOR IMPAIRMENTS
It is disclosed an apparatus for restoring voluntary control of locomotion in a subject suffering from a neuromotor impairment comprising a multidirectional trunk support system and a device for epidural electrical stimulation. The robotic interface is capable of evaluating, enabling and training motor pattern generation and balance across a variety of natural walking behaviors in subjects with neuromotor impairments. Optionally, pharmacological cocktails can be administered to enhance rehabilitation results. It is also disclosed a method for the evaluation, enablement and training of a subject suffering from neuromotor impairments by combining robotically assisted evaluation tools with sophisticated neurobiomechanical and statistical analyses. A method for the rehabilitation (by this term also comprising restoring voluntary control of locomotion) of a subject suffering from a neuromotor impairment in particular partial or total paralysis of limbs, is also disclosed.
