SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS WITH SENSORS FOR DETECTING TISSUE PROPERTIES, AND SYSTEM USING SUCH INSTRUMENTS
20230363658 · 2023-11-16 ·

A system is provided that furnishes expert procedural guidance based upon patient-specific data gained from surgical instruments incorporating sensors on the instrument's working surface, one or more reference sensors placed about the patient, sensors implanted before, during or after the procedure, the patient's personal medical history, and patient status monitoring equipment. Embodiments include a system having a surgical instrument with a sensor for generating a signal indicative of a property of a subject tissue of the patient, which signal is converted into a current dataset and stored. A processor compares the current dataset with other previously stored datasets, and uses the comparison to assess a physical condition of the subject tissue and/or to guide a procedure being performed on the tissue.

Volumetric Induction Phase Shift Detection System for Determining Tissue Water Content Properties
20220287583 · 2022-09-15 ·

A method and apparatus of determining the condition of a bulk tissue sample, by: positioning a bulk tissue sample between a pair of induction coils (or antennae); passing a spectrum of alternating current (or voltage) through a first of the induction coils (or antennae); measuring spectrum of alternating current (or voltage) produced in the second of the induction coils (or antennae); and comparing the phase shift between the spectrum of alternating currents (or voltages) in the first and second induction coils (or antennae), thereby determining the condition of the bulk tissue sample.

DEVICE, METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR MONITORING IMMUNE SYSTEM RESPONSE

The invention relates generally to monitoring the immune system response, and more specifically to identifying and diagnosing patients who are at risk for developing a disease or disorder associated with altered immune system response or who have been treated with a drug such as an immunosuppressant and using metabolomics and making a comparison against a database of patients to determine if an effective immune response has been elicited.

Device for detecting blood flow disturbance

A blood flow disorder detection device includes: a sensor sheet including a flexible substrate and a plurality of sensors provided on the flexible substrate; and an analyzer that analyzes outputs of the plurality of sensors. The plurality of sensors measure different types of blood flow information of a living tissue, the blood flow information being obtained by attaching the sensor sheet to the living tissue. The analyzer detects a blood flow disorder in the living tissue by analyzing the different types of blood flow information from the plurality of sensors.

COHERENCE GATED PHOTOACOUSTIC REMOTE SENSING (CG-PARS)
20200359903 · 2020-11-19 · ·

A coherence gated photoacoustic remote sensing system for imaging a subsurface structure in a sample with optical resolution may include an excitation beam source configured to generate an excitation beam that induces ultrasonic signals in the sample at an excitation location; an interrogation team source configured to generate an interrogation team incident on the sample at an interrogation location, a portion of the interrogation beam returning from the sample that is indicative of the generated ultrasonic signals, the interrogation beam being a low-coherent beam; an optical system that focuses the excitation beam onto the sample at an excitation location, and focuses the interrogation beam onto the sample at an interrogation location, at least the interrogation location being below the surface of and within the sample; and a low coherence interferometer that isolates a returning portion of the interrogation beam that corresponds to an interrogation event of the sample.

Drainage devices and methods for use

Devices and methods for draining excess lymph fluid are disclosed. The device can be fixed to the blood vessel adjacent to the thoracic duct. The device can have a port for withdrawing lymph fluid exiting the thoracic duct. The device can have a cannula and/or subcutaneous port to draw the lymph fluid away from the thoracic duct and reduce hemostatic pressure in the lymphatic system.
