IMAGE PROCESSING DEVICE AND METHOD OF OPERATING THE SAME
An image processing device includes a processor, and the processor decides whether or not to perform image processing on the medical image on the basis of an imaging condition of the medical image and/or an image analysis result obtained by analyzing the medical image. The processor performs, for the medical image on which the processor has decided to perform the image processing, at least one of calculation of an index value related to a stage of ulcerative colitis, determination of the stage of the ulcerative colitis, or determination of remission or non-remission of the ulcerative colitis on the basis of denseness of superficial blood vessels, intramucosal hemorrhage, and extramucosal hemorrhage that are obtained from the medical image.
CLASSIFICATION OF POLYPS USING LEARNED IMAGE ANALYSIS
Computational techniques are applied to video images of polyps to extract features and patterns from different perspectives of a polyp. The extracted features and patterns are synthesized using registration techniques to remove artifacts and noise, thereby generating improved images for the polyp. The generated images of each polyp can be used for training and testing purposes, where a machine learning system separates two types of polyps.
METHOD FOR RECOGNIZING PHYSIOLOGICAL SYMPTOM AND PHYSIOLOGICAL SYMPTOM SENSING SYSTEM
A method for recognizing physiological symptom and a physiological symptom sensing system are provided. After the sound signal is obtained, multiple signal segments are captured from the sound signal. Afterwards, a sound type corresponding to each signal segment is recognized. Moreover, a physiological state of a living body is determined based on a plurality of the sound type of the signal segments and combinations of a plurality of the sound types.
Ingestible capsule for the phototherapeutic treatment of infections
An ingestible capsule arranged, in use, to cross a human stomach for carrying out a phototherapeutic treatment arranged to combat an infection due to the presence of the bacterium Helicobacter pylori, the ingestible capsule comprising at least one primary light source arranged to emit an electromagnetic phototherapeutic wave having a wavelength λ.sub.1, at least one auxiliary light source arranged to emit an electromagnetic phototherapeutic wave having a wavelength λ.sub.2, a wrapper arranged to contain the or each primary light source and the or each auxiliary light source, the wrapper being at least partially transparent to the wavelengths λ.sub.1, and λ.sub.2, a control unit arranged to selectively activate the or each primary light source and/or the or each auxiliary light source.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DIAGNOSING AND/OR MONITORING DISEASE
A method for evaluating a gastrointestinal tract may include characterizing one or more disease parameters using objective measures obtained from imaging data of a gastrointestinal tract. The one or more disease parameters reflect a measure of at least one of lesions, ulcers, bleeding, stenosis, and vasculature. The method may also include using the one or more characterized disease parameters to classify a disease state.
DEVICE, SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MONITORING A SITE OF INTEREST INTERNAL TO A PATIENT BODY
A system and method for early detection of adverse physiological phenomenon such as anastomotic leakage through a tissue-of-interest monitoring electrode implanted in proximity to a site of interest internal to the body. The tissue-of-interest monitoring electrode is operative provide an electrical signal responsive to changes in physiological conditions at the site of interest. The electrical signals may be provided to by a communication device to a monitor which comprises circuitry that is operative to process the received signals for determining, for example, if GI leakage occurs or not. If leakage is detected, the monitor issues a warning indicating that leakage occurs.
Methods of treating medical conditions with oxygen
By manipulating the partial pressures of oxygen and nitrogen in the trapped air in the bowel with 100% non-rebreather mask oxygen, along with supportive therapy, a method will successfully decompress the colon. This is a low morbidity and low cost treatment which can be a useful adjunct in treating ileus and other gastrointestinal diseases in which luminal distension plays a role.
CAPSULE FOR DIAGNOSIS OF HELICOBACTER PYLORI
The present invention provides a capsule for diagnosis of Helicobacter pylori including a body section into which a gastrointestinal fluid including the Helicobacter pylori is selectively introduced; a decomposition section that is accommodated in the body section and contains urea; a sensor unit for measuring information on a result of decomposing the urea by Helicobacter pylori in the decomposition section; and a control unit for transmitting the information measured by the sensor unit to the outside.
Method and apparatus for monitoring state of inflammatory bowel disease
An example of a system for monitoring and treating a medical condition of a patient may include signal inputs to receive patient condition signals indicative of a state of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), a signal processing circuit configured to process the patient condition signals and generate patient condition parameters indicative of the state of IBD using the processed patient condition signals, and a medical condition analyzer configured to analyze the patient condition parameters and determine the medical condition including the state of IBD using an outcome of the analysis. The patient condition parameters may include one or more physiological marker parameters each representative of a physiological marker of IBD and one or more quality of life parameters each being measure of quality of life of the patient.
