Anti-reflective film
The present invention relates to an anti-reflective film exhibiting one or more peaks (q.sub.max) at a scattering vector of 0.0758 to 0.1256 nm.sup.−1, in a graph showing a log value of scattering intensity to a scattering vector defined in small-angle X-ray scattering.
Thermosetting resin composition, prepreg, laminate, and printed circuit board
A thermosetting resin composition, a prepreg, a laminate, and a printed circuit board are provided. The thermosetting resin composition has a thermosetting polyphenylene ether resin, an unsaturated polyolefin resin, a curing agent, and hollow borosilicate microspheres with surfaces treated with a bromine-containing silane coupling agent. The laminate produced from the thermosetting resin composition satisfies the requirements for overall properties such as low dielectric constant, low dielectric loss, low water absorption rate, high peeling strength, and the like for a high-frequency electronic circuit substrate.

IMPACT DETECTION COMPOSITE MATERIALS AND RELATED ARTICLES
The disclosure relates to an impact detection composite as well as related articles and methods. The impact detection composite incorporates a plasticizer and plurality of microcapsules into a polymeric matrix. The microcapsules serve as a means for detecting impact on the composite or a substrate to which it is attached. A sufficiently forceful impact can rupture the microcapsules and release an indicator therein. Presence of the plasticizer in the matrix facilitates diffusion of the indicator through the matrix once released. This allows for rapid detection of the indicator, for example as a visually observable color or color change at an external surface of the impact detection composite. The detectable change provides a tamper-proof and non-electronic means for detecting an impact. The impact detection composites can be incorporated into a variety of articles and used in a variety of settings, for example to monitor personal safety, to monitor article integrity, etc.

METHOD FOR TREATING SURFACES ON MARINE OBJECTS WITH ANTI-FOULING PAINT
A surface of a marine object is treated with an antifouling paint. The antifouling paint comprises a porous silicate and a wax. The porous silicate has a particle size of between 1 and 100 μm and is in a concentration of between 18 and 60 weight percent. The antifouling paint is applied to the surface. The wax is used to encapsulate the porous silicate and to prevent an immediate release of ions from the porous silicate.
THERMAL BARRIER FILM, THERMAL BARRIER PAINT, AND OPTICAL INSTRUMENT
Provided is a thermal barrier film having, dispersed in a resin matrix, high-refractive-index particles having a D-line refractive index of 2.5 or more and 3.2 or less. The high-refractive-index particles have an average particle size of 2.0 μm or more and 5.0 μm or less. Provided are a thermal barrier film that reduces a temperature rise due to sunlight by virtue of having a high reflectance even as a thin film, has high film thickness accuracy, and has high abrasion resistance, a thermal barrier paint for forming such thermal barrier film, and an optical instrument including such thermal barrier film.
Fluoroalkylsilanated mesoporous metal oxide particles and methods of preparation thereof
Treated, mesoporous aggregates comprising a plurality of coated particles that comprise an inorganic oxide core having a surface area of about 50 to about 500 square meters per gram and a shell or coating consisting of an array of fluoroalkyl molecular chains covalently bonded to the core at a density of at least one chain per square nanometer. The aggregates are formed by the chemical attachment of fluoroalkyl-alkylsilanes after exposure to an alkylamine and followed by an extraction to remove any unbound organic material. The dense packing of molecular chains in the fluoroalkyl shell combined with a mesoporous structure imparts a very low surface energy, a very high specific surface area, and surface texture over a wide range of length scales. Such features are highly desirable for the creation of, for example, superhydrophobic and superoleophobic surfaces, separation media, and release films.
