Intravascular sensing method and system
Described herein are methods and systems for calculating a corrected Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR). An illustrative method includes delivering a first pressure sensing device including a pressure sensor to a location in a blood vessel having a stenosis, positioning the pressure sensor distal to the stenosis, measuring the distal pressure, measuring the proximal pressure, and calculating a corrected FFR using the measured proximal and distal pressures and applying a correction factor or correction equation. The corrected FFR may approximate a FFR that would have been obtained if the pressure measured downstream of the stenosis was measured using a second pressure sensing device having a second maximum cross-sectional area in a distal portion of the second pressure sensing device that is different from the first maximum cross-sectional area.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MONITORING MOTOR RECOVERY IN A POST ACUTE STROKE TREATMENT
System and method for monitoring motor recovery in a post-stroke treatment is disclosed. Motor activity data corresponding to limbs movement is collected during an acute stroke period. The motor activity data is transmitted to at least one base station and an activity value for each arm of two arms is calculated in a predefined time window by using the motor activity data. The activity value for each arm is compared thus providing the monitoring of the motor activity.
IMAGE-ANALYSIS FOR ASSESSING HEART FAILURE
An apparatus for assessing heart failure can include an image sensor configured to capture image data of a patient, a sensor configured to capture sensor data for the patient, a memory configured to store the image data and the sensor data, and a processor coupled to the image sensor, the sensor, and the memory. The processor is configured to receive image data in response to detecting a biological condition from the sensor data, wherein the biological condition is indicative of psychophysiological health and cardiac health. The processor is further configured to detect a visual characteristic from the image data, wherein the visual characteristic is indicative of heart health, and, in response to detecting the visual characteristic, provide an indication that the patient is experiencing a worsening of heart failure.
MEDICAL SYSTEM FOR SEAMLESS THERAPY ADJUSTMENT
Methods and systems for seamless adjustment of treatment are disclosed. A determination is made as to whether to intervene with a patient's treatment. Implanted device memory data is acquired over a pre-specified time period. Risk status is determined from the device memory data. Another external device memory data is acquired over a pre-specified time period. A determination is made as to whether to adjust treatment of the patient in response to the risk status, the data acquired from the implanted device memory and the external device memory data.
Prediction device based on inter-organ cross talk system
An apparatus 1 comprises a subject data obtaining unit 11 for obtaining subject data M4 of an inter-organ cross talk indicator in each organ other than a specific organ, a pattern similarity calculation unit 12 for calculating, by comparing the subject data M4 with standard data 1 of the inter-organ cross talk indicator, similarity of patterns of the inter-organ cross talk indicators, and a prediction unit 13 for predicting the presence of a specific disease and/or the stage of the specific disease by using the similarity as a measure.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR MONITORING CHRONIC DISEASE
A method and apparatus monitors chronic disease state of a patient. The method may include extracting, in a processor, for each of a plurality of monitoring sessions, a respiratory feature from a respiratory signal indicative of the patient's respiration during the monitoring session, the respiratory signal derived from at least one sensor; and computing, in a processor, a stability measure of the patient for a monitoring session, the stability measure representing an indication of a change point having occurred at the monitoring session in a statistical distribution of the respiratory feature.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR IN-VIVO SPATIOTEMPORAL IMAGING OF TISSUE PROTEIN CLUSTERS
A system and method for in-vivo monitoring for changes in body proteins over time includes an intelligent, implantable image capture system. An embedded processor controls activation of lighting for imaging proteins in surrounding tissue. A base image is captured and resulting data used in comparison with image data from one or more subsequent image captures to indicate progression of tissue changes, such as may occur with diseased tissue.
Treatment of a disease of the gastrointestinal tract with a TLR modulator
This disclosure features methods and compositions for treating diseases of the gastrointestinal tract with a TLR agonist.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TRACKING AND IDENTIFYING INFECTION TRANSMISSION
The present disclosure describes systems and methods for determining sources of infection transmission. Phylogenetic methods are used for determining the evolutionary history and replication rates of infection isolates. The evolutionary distance and/or replication rate of an infection isolate maybe compared to other isolates. Based on a comparison of the evolutionary distance and/or replication rate, a determination of the source of infection transmission is made.
ADAPTIVE AND INTERACTIVE EDUCATION AND COMMUNICATION SYSTEM FOR PEOPLE WITH HEARING LOSS AND HEARING HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS AND RELATED METHODS
A system, device, and wireless computer technology-implemented method for providing hearing healthcare education and communication for a patient, his/her communication partner, and a hearing care provider. The system provides the patient at least one educational and experiential module and a method for assessing the patient's comprehension of the module's lessons. The system further provides the patient with a method to select personal hearing aid and communication goals; a method to evaluate his/her progress on achieving each personal goal; and a method to report his/her hearing experiences. The system further provides a method to compare data reported by the patient to personalized thresholds. When one or more of the patient's reports do not meet the thresholds, the system sends automated alerts to the hearing care provider to encourage prompt remedial action and sends automated reminders to the patient to improve the patient's ability to achieve his/her personal goals.
